International Models: Perfect model dimensions for elegance in advertising and presentation

Model Measurements & Body Size – The classic model career every up-and-coming model dreams of almost always depends exclusively on the model’s body size. There are only a few exceptions, perhaps one in a thousand, who made it anyway due to their special nature. Everybody knows supermodel Kate Moss. She combines everything: a special look, a special charisma and she is always extremely committed to her work. In addition, she leads a very interesting private life for the media and thus also the right story.

Why are model dimensions so crucial for jobs?

Why are measurements so important for models? You always have to imagine there are many models. No matter if a designer has his presentation in London, Paris, Hong Kong, Cape Town or also New York and Berlin, fashion collections are cut to a certain size, especially if they have been tailor-made for the next season and are first shown to customers at fashion shows or in showrooms with a few sample pieces. These collection pieces are usually cut to a standard size, this standard size corresponds e.g. with High Fashion to a body size with female models of 178 cm and as a rule a confection size of 34 or 34, 36 (EU). Women should not be taller than 181 cm. For men, it is especially important that your body is not too well trained. What’s the matter with you? It makes it harder for normal men to identify with you. Male models should have a minimum size of 185 cm and a maximum size of 195 cm. When female models wear high heels, the biggest differences are not too extreme. At a fashion show then all models are about the same size and nothing distracts from the fashion has pieces.

The same applies of course to online shops, especially when it comes to the first pieces of a collection, standard sizes are issued. Whether it is clothing, size S or M (US), or standard size shoes from 36 to 38 (EU) for women and 42 or 43 (EU) for men.

Dimensions & Sizes at a glance: National and International

Before we go into detail, these are the general “standards” for 95% of all jobs. The closer you are to these dimensions, the better the conditions – apart from personality.

  • Women
    Body size for Fashion: 176 – 180cm / International
    Body size for advertising: 172 – 181cm / Germany
    Slim figure, usually long hair
  • men
    Body size for Fashion: 186 – 190cm / International
    Body size for advertising: 184 – 194cm / Germany
    Slim or slightly sporty figure

Dimensions for models for advertising

If you only want to work in advertising, i.e. not in the field of high fashion fashion, the dimensions are no longer so decisive for you. Here women with a height of 170 cm can have success as well as with a height of 183 cm. Also for men models the measures are more flexible, advertisement does not require any more the “absolute ideal measures” and the figure can deviate also a little bit.

Prerequisites for Plus Size Models

Plus Size Models are really trendy. More and more fashion designers and creative arts directors are turning to curvaceous women in advertising. There is a small difference between Plus Size Models and Curvy Models. Plus Size Models are models that are a little above the “normal” fashion model sizes, i.e. Plus Size Models are women who have a clothing size of 38 or 40 (EU). Plus Size models can do a great job because more women can identify with them as they do with high fashion models. As a Plus Size Model you can therefore not only work for fashion customers, but also in advertising. That makes the job opportunities varied and so you can earn good money as a Plus Size Model in the industry. You want to be a Plus Size Model? Then send us your application!

take measurements yourself: Measure hips, waist and chest

Here you see all important points on the body to take your measurements yourself. Make sure that you wear as little clothing as possible when measuring and be honest with yourself when measuring!

Curvy Models: Dimensions and fabrication

Curvy models in women with a clothing size between 42 and 44. Also the cup size is much bigger and can go up to a G-Cup. Curvy Models are as popular as Plus Size Models, as they are most appealing to the average woman. The average woman in Europe has a clothing size of 44, which means that even Curvy models with an average clothing size of 42 to 44 are only generally average. Also as Curvy Model we are very happy about your application in our model agency.

People Models

The last part of the model’s section revolves around those who have very special traits. Extremely wild hair, tattoos, best agers and many more. As a people model you work mainly in the advertising sector, whether it is for a muesli commercial or for a comfortable mattress. People Models correspond to the normal look of everyday people. You have a special gap in your teeth, a lot of curls or a conspicuous and striking nose. If you want to work as a people model, you should not apply in a model agency but in a special people agency. What’s the difference? People agencies also work in advertising, the only thing they serve less is the field of fashion. But as a People Mode you can also get jobs in advertising, for online shops or even classic advertising materials such as image brochures and catalogs.

Model dimensions are as varied as the job itself. There is a suitable agency for every area.

In fact! Body size makes the difference in jobs for models

Every model agency is happy about such a diamond. For most people, however, the rule remains the same: Your modeling career is almost always decided on the basis of body size. When we go through applications in the agency, the first information displayed is not name or your residence, first we see the height. Of course, we always take a look at the photos. But as a smaller model you always need the special, international look or a finished model folder. For international customers, the body and clothing size of the models is particularly important. But first we look at what a typical customer from Germany attaches importance to in his inquiry.

Basically, the following specifications are usually given by the customer for the model agency:

  1. body size of the model (80% of the requests)
  2. Model’s clothing size (70% of requests)
  3. Looks of the model (hair length, hair color, skin tone, etc. to 65% of inquiries)
  4. Recognition value (only 10% of the requests)

Elegant presentation of fashion requires slim bodies

Elegance – In order for products to be presented elegantly, the figure of the model is crucial for fashion designers and their agencies. The proportions of the model must be right so that the overall presentation is right. Whether fashion show, advertising poster or commercial. Clothing looks much more elegant on slim bodies. We all know the famous “dream measurements” of 90-60-90 (hip/waist/breast). These three measures are considered ideal if they are in proportion to the body size.

As a high fashion model in Milan or Paris this is often too much. Your hip may be New Face gladly still narrower, also the chest. An 87-58-82 (H/T/B) has a good chance at casting in the fashion capitals.

Small models have less chances of getting big jobs

You don’t stand a chance as a woman at castings in fashion cities under 175cm. If you are smaller than 175 cm, you will unfortunately have no chance in the castings of the big designers. For online shops, labels and advertising in the national market, you still have the chance to get jobs, so it’s worth it, even as a smaller model, if you pay attention to your proportions. For example, if a product is presented by a person, not a group, body size is much less important. If the proportions are right and you have less than 90-60-90 at less than 175cm, the overall picture is right. However, PR and advertising agencies know that you tend to be less booked as a smaller model, so the fees are slightly lower. The sooner you are a model the scheme is: big and attractive, the easier it is for you.

Over 181cm it becomes again more difficult as a woman. Just as there are limits at the bottom, there are also limits at the top. Female models over 181 cm have it again more difficult. For one thing, you’re bigger than your colleagues. But you are also often taller than your male colleagues. With high heels you are as tall as most boys with 187 cm. Even on the catwalk. The fashion collections are only produced in one size for the first presentation. Mostly for dress size 34 (max. 34/36) at 175-179cm. Designers, teams and producers would have to change every single piece or book all models larger.

These are just two factors to describe why it becomes difficult to model successfully at a certain height. Nevertheless, you have good chances in the national advertising markets, for example in people agencies. They often have jobs very similar to model agencies: commercials, fairs & co. In every big city there are people agencies.

Advertising effect of elegance for brands of all kinds

In the international fashion industry, the rules are much stricter, as mentioned earlier. Instead of 90-60-90 it can be 87-58-82. Fashion designers as well as agencies are looking for models to present their products as high as possible. The higher the quality and more exclusive the product is to the consumer in the commercial or from the poster, the easier it is to justify a high price for the product or service. Therefore, as a good model who can sell products through looks and poses, you can also earn a lot of money. Even for individual advertising campaigns, four and five-digit amounts are quickly possible for one-day advertising productions, even for “new faces”. Why does advertising need models for events, photos and videos? Read more here: Advertising and its function in marketing.

Expensive or cheap: fashion must be presented elegantly

Even cheaper labels always try to reach the level of high-priced labels in advertising. Whether exclusive, international label or fashion startup, the model must have a slim body so that the garments fall optimally, no wrinkles throw and fit perfectly. This applies to all fashion metropolises and models in New York, Paris, London and Milan.

Fashion is always something special. Fashion thrives on being special! New fashion collections are regularly launched by designers worldwide, every season. Not only major international fashion designers and retail chains work in this way. Even small fashion labels have to constantly present their customers with new designs and cuts to attract their attention. So designers and fashion have to reinvent themselves again and again in order to remain interesting for consumers.

Curvy Model: Supersize models become more and more popular

Never before have they been so in demand – Curvy Models. Personality instead of “ideal measures”. The curves of the 50’s and together with the still prevailing size 0 models bring the next development in the fashion world, the Curvy Model. It is important to note this: Curvy isn’t just lazy and fast food. Nutrition is the A&O of every model, because you don’t want to lose your sporty curves. The market for Curvys is growing steadily and is being sought everywhere.

Shows in Milan, New York, Paris, Hong Kong and London

The new masterpieces are regularly presented at the Fashion Weeks. Milan, New York, Paris, Hong Kong and London. In spring, summer, autumn and winter people are always looking for new looks and trends. Almost all designers have one thing in common: they tailor their collections for tall, slim people. The clothes fall more elegantly, fabrics unfold their full effect, everything looks more exclusive and higher quality! Gracile figures make clothes and their possible price more expensive. Even if not all fashion brands work in this scheme, it is still the majority of the industry.

Fashion show dimensions

Fashion shows and fashion presentations are subject to an unwritten norm. For female models, a clothing size of 34 (max. 34/36) with a body size of 177-180 (176-181) cm is considered ideal at the beginning of their career. Your hip should be under 5 inches. For men models there is usually a clothing size of 48 (max. 50/52) with a body size of 185-192 cm. Here’s a tip for male models: At the beginning of your career, as a male model you should also pay attention to a younger look. If you already look too masculine in your first years as a model, you’ll quickly get a chance for jobs in the fashion industry and at castings. That’s why you as a male model should always go to castings with a shaved beard during the first years.

Online editors: News, trends and influencers all day!

What’s your job like?

start into the day, team meeting and editing

Your everyday life consists of classic office work! With a good cup of coffee or cappuccino you start the day at 9 o’clock in the morning. You have your own workplace and check all e-mails and requests first. At about 10 o’clock we meet for the team meeting. Here we discuss the most important tasks of the day quickly and shortly. After that, you’ll focus fully on your work, from consulting with blogger management to PR agencies, new visuals to release in Photoshop, or other tasks you don’t expect today! Because as a fashion editor you are always part of our model and advertising agency. So you also take over editorial tasks for our model agency, in the area of PR.

Interviews, Design, News and Public Relations

Our internship and vocational training (office management clerk or dialogue marketing clerk) as a fashion editor are diverse and varied. With all your main tasks, a friendly team and constantly new tasks, so that you can grow with the challenges!

The longer your training, the more extensive the knowledge you can acquire. Through our owner-managed agency, you are very close to all topics and learn more than in many other companies. Because with us a job does not only consist of the daily work of the same things. You will get your own tasks, projects and, depending on the duration of your training, more and more responsibility. In principle, we offer these three forms of training

Internship & Trainees: Differences in education

  • 3 month internship for vocational orientation
  • 6 month internship for vocational orientation and transfer of know-how
  • Vocational training in the commercial sector

3 month internship for vocational orientation

During the three-month internship you will get to know all important areas at a glance. Then you will have an assessment of whether you would enjoy your job as a fashion editor or not. During the three months you will be given an area of responsibility that you are allowed to supervise independently, with supervision and guidance. In addition, you will of course also be involved in working with our team and get to know a little from the world of public relations (PR).

6 month internship for career orientation and marketing know-how

During the six-month internship you will learn much more than just the important areas of career orientation! The experiences are also more. For example, every half year the Berlin Fashion Week takes place, if you’re lucky you might be able to visit it for us! Or you can organize photo shoots with photographers and models, which are then published in the magazine. You will be assigned such larger projects in a six-month internship. You will then take care of the various tasks and contact persons, agencies, designers, models and bloggers. During your internship you will not only get to know the superficial aspects of a fashion magazine, but also the deeper work processes in marketing.

Vocational training in the commercial sector: Editing to management

In a vocational training, e.g. to the buyer or to the buyer for office communication or dialogue marketing, you learn everything what there is to know about the media world! After completing your vocational training, you have gathered so much know-how that you can gain a foothold in any agency and pretty much any magazine. We will not only teach you how to work editorially, you will also get to know many aspects of marketing and especially online marketing as well as social media and influencer marketing. Who’s in the front row of a fashion show these days? Blogger! That’s why we are no longer just asking the classic world of printed magazines, but have focused completely on the online sector since 2018. Nevertheless we publish every six months a best of edition in printed form, for reordering. Of course you will get to know all aspects of the layout, you will like to work with Photoshop but also with InDesign. At the end of your vocational training you will have got to know everything and with a little luck and good performance you will even get a permanent position.

The perfect preparation for a career in the fashion world!

Minimum dimensions for men and women

The requirements for models differ for male models and female models in their body size, why is that so? As you can read in our article about Pret-a-Porter and Haute Couture, fashion collections in particular are cut to size by designers. This allows uniform fashion shows to be held later, but also showrooms and photo shootings. Due to the identical dimensions it is easier for designers but also for event agencies and advertising agencies to plan concepts and shows.

Women are usually 10 cm smaller than men. If you want to take off as a female model in Berlin, you should have a minimum size of 174 cm, even better 175 cm. The ideal case for female models in Berlin is 178 to 180 cm. This gives you the perfect size to work as a model. A minimum size of 185 cm applies to men models in model agencies. Ideally, you shouldn’t be over 6’8″. At High Fashion Models the figure should be slim, so you have the best chances to work for international high fashion brands. You’re more flexible as a Curvy model. But the body size should be similar. Here once again the most important summarized

  • Minimum size for men Models is 185 – 190 cm
  • Minimum size for women is 174/175 – 180 cm
  • High fashion models should have a slim figure and a hip below 92 cm
  • Plus Size and Curvy Models should have a clothing size of 42

Casting Outfit: Simple, so that nothing distracts from you as a model

As mentioned above – we just point out – you should have no styling / make-up at the casting, as well as at the photos for your application, plain clothing is the be-all and end-all! You should also do without makeup, your hair should be open. If you want to work for us in Berlin, it’s all about naturalness! No tanning salon, no gel nails, no hair extensions and above all no dyed hair! That’s why come to the casting absolutely naturally.

Plus Size Models and Curvy Models Wanted!

You know a beautiful woman with clothing sizes over 36-38? Then tell her now about our model casting on 13 April in Berlin. Already after our first Curvy Model Casting in Berlin, at the beginning of the year, we could find four new talents! They were already allowed to make the first showrooms. As a Berlin model you can go a long way, even if your measurements don’t suit the high fashion industry. Apart from high fashion, there is a lot of potential: catalogues, online shops, advertising and much more. Especially Plus Size Models are gradually conquering more market shares.

In advertising, they are much more authentic, since their dimensions resemble those of the average German woman. Did you know that the average woman in Germany is 44 in size? If you know a beautiful girl or a beautiful woman, tell her about us now!

Sei is at the age of 15 years in the next big city, by plane from Frankfurt to Hamburg or just a few months and years later across Europe and the world. As a model, especially in the high fashion world and in skin couture, the international path is always open. If you take your chances early enough and I prepare perfectly for them myself, you can go far. Quite different from television, real top models are less about the story, drama and self-production. For models it’s about absolute willpower and belief in yourself (yourself!). As you will learn in the next chapters of the book, as a model you will have to face many exams! Absolute trust is an absolute priority for your modeling agent and your modeling agency.

The perfect model agency for New Faces

Mother agencies, model agencies, fashion agents, boutique agencies and bookers – What?!

Before it goes to the big topic of model castings, the first showrooms and jobs, the book deals with the search for the perfect agency. Each model agency has its own portfolio and clientele. Often model agencies are very specialized in a certain area (advertising, high fashion, etc.). Also the size of agencies is different. There are some Modelbookers who hardly know anybody, but who have the best contacts and only work with 5-15 models. There are small agencies, large agencies with hundreds of employees and huge international model agencies such as IMG or ELITE.

In general, you can distinguish model agencies like this: There are international agencies, national agencies and regional model agencies. The more international a model agency is, the stricter are the requirements for your measurements, but also the higher are the requirements to be accepted as a model by this model agency (experience, pictures, etc.). With national agencies, advertising (supermarkets, insurance companies, etc.) is very often the issue, here it is not too important to have a perfect figure, with perfect proportions and exact body size. The measures in national markets therefore differ from those of the international standard. For models who work in regional areas, the dimensions count even less. This is often about smaller jobs and smaller fairs (hostess). As an international high fashion model, you naturally want to join the big brands, but of course you have to prepare yourself perfectly!

Serious model agencies: agency search and model application

In order to find the best agency for you and your requirements, you will learn in the book what a perfect model agency application looks like and how to find the best model agency for you! Many questions are also answered here, for example, whether you need a lot of photo material for your application The simple answer is: No, you just need Polaroids. The Model Scouts in agencies have a very trained view and can recognize by their experience of many years, already by simple Polaroids whether you have potential for the agency or not. Polaroids are super simple photos with the smartphone, in daylight. That’s it. If you want to know how to make perfect Polaroids for your application, read more here: Become a model. For your application you don’t need a long cover letter or to describe how motivated you are! There’s just a little bit of key information. These are usually your name, your place of residence, your contact details and three to four photos. You also write down your measurements: your body size, hips, waist, bottom and shoe size.

Your model folder: The best photos for castings & jobs

Once you have found the perfect model agency for you, you can start with the first test shootings with photographers! Of course your model agency will help you a lot to get only the best photographers. Your agency will also see to it that you get a wide range of material for your model portfolio. Many make the mistake of focusing purely on “fashion photos”. Especially when there’s no agency in the background to advise you as a model. My tip: As a model you should always make sure that your model portfolio is as multi-faceted as possible. Not every customer can directly imagine what one can make of you as a guy. The photos help the customer to make his decision. The more extensive your photo portfolio is in the model folder, the more likely it is that customers will be able to make bookings.

Someday your book will be so full, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Which photo do I put in the folder, which one not? With professional models, the folder is so strong at some point that they are booked more and more often directly. Direct bookings are very good because you don’t have to attend a casting and are not in a pre-selection. You don’t have to keep days off (“Option”), you will be booked directly by the customer for an appointment!

Test shootings with photographers: build up model portfolio and win jobs

So that you can build up your model portfolio perfectly, you’ll also learn in the book how to get your own test shoots (also called TFP shoots in Germany) from photographers. As a modeling agent, I have to deal with test shootings for our models on a daily basis, so here are a few valuable tips on how you should ideally write to photographers. What’s the matter with you? With the right cover letter, your chances of getting good test shoots will increase. There are some little tricks I’ll tell you in the book. In principle, it can be said that you should briefly deal with the photographer instead of “just” writing to him or her. You should also create a suitable moodboard. The more interesting the shooting is for the photographer of your choice, the more time-saving the shooting is, the higher is your chance for the test shooting! So take a good look at what the photographer has already done and what not.

You shouldn’t do too much with the test shoot, though. If I post a new photographer on Facebook and Instagram every day, your market value may drop quickly. Why should a big customer still pay a lot of money if “every” photographer is allowed to photograph you for free? With a professional modeling agency behind you, you will of course get direct tips and the best contacts so that you are as exclusive as possible!

If you take care of yourself and his portfolio, you should make sure that you want the photographer to expand your portfolio. If you already have five photo series with “Fashion”, maybe you should try something new! To help you do this, you’ll get all the tips you need to write the perfect letter to photographers.

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs: Welcome to the Model World

Daily business. We did it! You have prepared yourself well for being a model, written a good application, found a serious agency, built up and expanded your model portfolio, you get the first castings and voila: The first jobs! The tasks are then very extensive and varied. Unlike normal office life, you don’t have to deal with the same tasks every day. You won’t be working every day either. Sometimes you have free time, sometimes you will travel, sometimes you are already one day earlier on site for the fitting. In between, many young models study, so you’ll soon have a full-time job! Especially when you go abroad.

First you will start your career with small jobs for online shootings, you will work on showrooms, maybe do some online shops and get your first commercials. When you’re ready, you’ll earn enough money to get to professional photographers and to bring your model portfolio to an even higher level with new photo series from top photographers! With new photos you will get better jobs again. At some point it will be time and if your model portfolio is full enough, your agency can also suggest you for abroad in its partner agencies. So even as a young model you can quickly get to the international metropolises, Milan, Paris and New York. Many models now also go to Asia, Shanghai and Hong Kong. But some also go to large production facilities such as Istanbul. But the Big Four remain the dream of all models: London, Paris, Milan and New York.

After the job: healthy life and beauty

A model’s job is really exhausting! So there is another chapter that deals only with how you eat healthily and how you live healthily. You will also get great beauty tips on how to take care of yourself, your skin and your hair even during strenuous jobs and many days of travel. You have many shootings, many appointments and often don’t find the time to cook something fresh for yourself. Then you have to go on to the next shooting and maybe you still have overtime. After eleven hours of shooting and “smiling”, you are absolutely knocked out back to the hotel. You’ll find the best tips on how to keep fit anyway in the book! The book not only shows you how to become a model and what you will experience as a model, you also get practical tips for the time after the jobs.

After you can keep yourself fit in the hard everyday life of a model and eat a healthy diet, we go one step further: Networking! When you’re out and about at fashion shows or photo shoots, there are often people with a taste for fashion. Therefore it is good and important if you know a little about the absolute basics. Small talk is always important! Whether at the Fashion Week or in your model agency. Therefore, an entire chapter is devoted to the theme of fashion. Where does fashion come from, why does it actually exist? Is fashion just clothes or is fashion more? How do trends influence us? Who sets trends? It also deals with the two important parts of fashion: haute couture and pret-a-porter. Both fashion styles are very important for designers, as well as for models and the entire advertising industry and production behind fashion.

Fashion changes at any time. That’s why the Fashion Week in the fashion metropolises doesn’t just take place once a year. In Paris, Milan and New York there are more often big fashion events! “Spring/Summer”, “Autumn/Winter”, “Prefall”, “Fashion Week Mens”, and so on. New collections of fashion designers are constantly being presented. Meanwhile, backstage before, during and after the shows, you’ll be coming back to fashion again and again. So you know what it’s like to be a model in haute couture and pret-a-porter.
show the book in the chapter about trends and fashions!

Modeling abroad: Perfect dimensions, hard work and diligence

Now you have learned everything to make it in Germany as a model! For the best of the best it goes on now, abroad! Here you will get to know the big model world. At first quite small, with other models in a large model WG. Later, when you have convinced the first agencies of yourself and are booked again for the following season, also get to know new agencies and your schedule gets fuller and fuller, you have done it. Now you can get to know the world, travel and meet interesting people on jobs every day. This is the dream of all young models. Everybody wants to go to the big media circus when they say “I want to be a top model!”

The way there is long and as described in chapter 1, success is mainly connected with the mental power of a model. You have to be true to yourself, you have to believe in yourself! Not just for a few weeks, but for years. Even the biggest top models in the world and supermodels of Victoria’s Secret shows have taken a few years to really succeed and become famous. They started very early, were partly discovered very early by scouts and worked their way up for years, first beside school, then full time, to the “superstars” they are today for many.

The Model Book for everyone: The Model Book

Not every model will follow the path of high fashion and international advertising. The book also gives models on national markets a very informative insight, so that you as a “commercial” model can also take a lot of important things with you. You will learn a lot about the agency search, how to set up and expand your modelbook, how to find the perfect photographers, what jobs to expect and what opportunities you have to make a career as a model! I wrote the book for several months and met interesting people for it, as well as fashion photographer Oliver Rudolph. Part of the work was also created in collaboration with Michelle Hamacher. I thank you very much and look forward to further cooperation! With this book we give young, new models a realistic insight into the fashion industry and wish each one of you much success and the very best for your individual way!

Olga in our model agency – Italian model with sexappeal

Our new model takes the catwalks by storm – Olga. It already adorned the cover of the Velvet. The issue was about Richard Branson and other exclusive VIP news. Besides the Velvet Olga was already on the cover of the trend Privé and Glance. Depending on the light, she looks confusingly similar to US superstar Rihanna.

Your first model application: Your first step to modeling

Have you decided to become a model or would you like to give your model career more seriousness and work more professionally? Then the first step is to find the right agency. You already have an appointment at an agency? Read how to prepare for your interview here!

Become a model – Application and interview

If you want to apply to us, you will find everything you need to know about the topic here:

Why do you need a model agency for modeling?

An agency is very important for a model, because it supports and protects you as a model. She helps you find photographers and jobs. No matter if you are booked as a model for shootings or catwalks, the agency will show you in the best light. The bookers know how to present yourself optimally with your book. As “New Face” you will be supported by your agency in setting up your book and your setcard. One very important point: an agency protects you from dubious customers and dubious job enquiries. Usually dubious customers already shy away when they learn that a model is represented by an agency. This is particularly important for an international modeling career, because models abroad are often underpaid and exploited. A reputable model agency ensures that you do not work unpaid overtime, that you do not take dubious pictures of yourself, that you are adequately paid and accommodated. In addition, the agency will determine in advance whether the job is of high quality and whether you can be associated with the customer as a model without your image suffering as a result. At best, every job should prove your model qualities and positively underline your image.

Photomodel Lookbook (Cocaine Models Management)

How do you find the best model agency as a newcomer?

There are now plenty of model agencies. But how do I even find a suitable model agency? And when is a modeling agency serious? Your search starts on the Internet. It’s convenient if your agency is within your radius. That’s why you should simply enter “Model agency + your city” in Google and browse the results. Since it is generally important for a model to be represented in the larger “Mode & Medien-Städten” in Germany, you should search for “Modelagenturen + Hamburg/ Berlin/ München/ Köln/ Düsseldorf/ Frankfurt”. You’ll get some results. The next hurdle: Now how do you know which of the agencies are even serious? One possibility is that there are already ready-made model agency lists on the Internet that are constantly updated, for example the Vogue list. With this you can assume that only well-known and serious agencies are listed. However, as a dedicated model you should take a closer look at your selected agencies yourself before applying.

Criteria for serious model agencies in Germany

In order to find out for yourself which agency is serious, you should go through different steps.

  • Step 1: The Agency’s website. Very important: A serious model agency has a serious website. A simple, clear design, a high quality board and information about the agency team.
  • Step 2: The level of the models. Take a look at the model board and determine the level of the models yourself. The following criteria will help you here: Do the models have optimal model dimensions and an impressive face? Are the pictures of the models high quality?
  • Step 3: Does the agency work with serious clients? You can easily research this on the agency’s website or on the agency’s social media platforms. In general, you can easily measure the seriousness of your customers according to their degree of recognition. Also the “likes” on Facebook or “Follwer” on Instagram show how well known and popular a model agency is.
  • Step 4: Search the Internet for reports from other models or clients of the agency. Note that not every comment is true. In order to get a better picture of the agency you should read enough testimonials and reviews of the agency. To say it in addition is: See these evaluations rather than references, make you nevertheless own picture.

Find your perfect model agency – Summary:

Recognize reputable model agencies:

  • serious customers (for example, well-known brands through advertising)
  • serious models (appearance, dimensions)
  • fixed admission criteria
  • serious website
  • Transparency regarding the agency team (for example through website)

Agency is not serious if:

  • No/untransparent website (no naming of agency headquarters or agency teams)
  • simple agency admission without preconditions and interview
  • no cooperation with serious customers
  • Admission fees will be charged

The model application

You have now found a suitable, reputable model agency and would like to apply as a model. What’s the best way to apply? Nowadays, applications are usually sent by e-mail, which means that you can find an e-mail address and a contact person to whom you can send your application via the agency’s website.

What must be in your application?

Most agencies publish their admission criteria on their websites. In general, you should state your measurements in your mail, i.e. chest, waist and hip circumference. You should attach great importance to the accuracy and timeliness of your measurement data, because an agency does not like it at all if you make false statements. You’ve never taken measurements yourself? No problem. No problem.

Take and measure measurements yourself

You simply measure your measurements with a normal tape measure. If you’re unsure, get someone you can trust to help you. To determine the exact circumference of your chest, the tape measure must be placed at the widest point of the chest and pulled to tension. Important for women: If you wear a bra when measuring, pull off approx. 1 cm, for push-up bras at least 2 cm. To determine the circumference of your waist, place the tape measure at the narrowest point and pull it tight. You measure the hip circumference at the widest point of your hip or bottom. The optimal model measurements for a woman (as a guideline) are 90-60-90.

In addition to your measurements, you should include pictures in your application. You should make a selection that shows you in different facets, i.e. commercial, fashion and beauty pictures from your book as well as simple Polaroids. You don’t have a book yet and no Polaroids? No problem. No problem.

Picture selection for your model folder

Some agencies prefer models who already have a certain selection of pictures. So you should start looking for different, good photographers. The easiest way to do this is via the Internet. Do the same as your agency search, i.e. search for professional photographers in your area, check their websites, look at their pictures and search for ratings of the photographers by other models. Important: Make a conscious choice. It is of little use to you if you thoughtlessly select numerous photographers who take similar pictures of you (for example, only fashion pictures). Rather, you should choose a few photographers who take different pictures of you in different “directions”, i.e. fashion, commercial and beauty pictures. Here applies: Invest rather a little more money, so that the pictures become qualitatively high-quality and convince. Only those who invest will benefit.

Polaroids for Models – Fast, clean photos

At some agencies even simple Polaroid pictures are sufficient for the application. You can do this yourself or get support from a friend or family member. Polaroids are clean pictures that show your body and face in different facets and give the agency a first impression of you. Polaroids show you in front of a white wall, a good exposure, without make-up, in plain, tight-fitting clothes (skinny jeans or leggings & simple top or T-shirt) and with women preferably in high shoes. One picture should be taken of you in underwear, on one picture you should laugh, on the other one you should look rather expressionless into the camera. Important: No big posing! The pictures should be simple and natural.

checklist for models

  • Optimal & exact dimensions
  • Optically neat look
  • Naturalness
  • The special something (For example, strikingly beautiful eyes/lips, small features such as a tooth gap or a mothers meal, long & undyed hair, a special radiance)
  • self-conscious, present & friendly appearance

If you meet all the criteria of the model agency and the bookers find you interesting, you will be invited to a personal interview at the agency.

Essen x Berlin – Restaurants in a metropolis

If you are on the road in Berlin all day long, it is only understandable that hunger will strike at some point. But what should you eat with so much on offer? Don’t worry, we’ve picked out some great locations for you. From a noble restaurant to a delicious snack on the corner – there is something for everyone.

#1 Orlando – Sicilian cuisine and wines

Our first recommendation is the Sicilian Orlando in Prenzlauer Berg. The place, where owner Giulia Paolillo welcomes her guests like friends, is at the same time a delicatessen, kitchen for individual catering and location for relaxed events and family celebrations. There you can buy delicious wines, delicious caponata, coffee and homemade olive oil. Anyone who loves a culinary trip to Sicily is in the right place.

#2 India Club – From curry to other Indian specialties

Near the Brandenburg Gate, at the back of Hotel Adlon, the most elegant and exclusive Indian in town awaits you. Set in the British colonial style, tasty dishes with lots of vegetables, chicken and lamb await you. Of course, only meat of the highest organic quality is used. In a real Tandoori oven made of clay you get the most delicious and varied Indian dishes refined with the most diverse spices of Indian cuisine.

#3 The Bastard Berlin

Yeah, you heard right. The bastard is regarded as one of THE meeting places for a good meal. Breakfast is particularly popular there. On weekends, visitors usually queue up and you have to be lucky that someone gets up. The waiters politely ask that other guests be allowed to join them at the tables. The audience is, typically Kreuzberg, colourfully mixed and international. The breakfast menu is comprehensive, very varied and appealing. There are scrambled eggs, cheese and sausage as well as vegetarian and vegan breakfast dishes and delicious cakes. The homemade brioche are a poem – try it with cream cheese and jam. The coffee in the bastard is excellent. Apart from the long waiting time, the bastard is definitely worth a visit, as the breakfast variety is hardly comparable to that of another restaurant. So off to the bastard in Kreuzberg.

#4 La Stella Nera – Vegan and Varied

Don’t worry, for our vegan readers we have also found a mega location, the La Stelle Nera in Berlin-Neuköln. The menu offers you an unforgettable experience of Neopolitan pizzas from the wood-burning oven. Of course everything with high-quality, organic flour and, if you like, with vegan cheese or vegan salami. If you don’t want pizza there is of course, as usual with Italians, delicious vegan pasta. The pasta is also made completely in-house to ensure that no animal products are used. La Stella Nera also offers other Italian delicacies such as antipasti, salads and of course the finest homemade desserts. Créme Caramel, for example, is a vegan cream-caramel pudding with orange sauce, which is very popular with all guests. If you like it traditional, you can also order a vegan tiramisu for dessert. However, it is important to know that if you want to eat there, you should reserve a place beforehand. La Stella Nera is quite well visited and so spontaneous is the chance that you won’t get there.

#5 The best Döner in the world – Mustafa’s vegetable Kebap

Kebap fans watch out – nowhere is there a better kebab than at Mustafa’s vegetable kebap. We don’t make that up, every day hundreds of enthusiastic doner fans go to the snack bar at the Mehringdamm. For many this is even the only reason to come to Berlin. We constantly hear that people drive from the airport directly with suitcases to the popular snack bar to treat themselves to a kebab – unbelievable. However, you can’t reserve a seat there in advance. If you want a really tasty doner kebab for just under 3 euros, you have to allow for about 45 to 60 minutes of waiting time. However, every visitor can only recommend that you do this, because it is really worth it.

Berlin – You have to experience these 7 locations!

Berlin, the beautiful capital of Germany. In such a huge metropolis there is something to discover around every corner, from a small curious bar to a crazy flea market with a karaoke event. To coincide with Fashion Week, we have a few locations for you that you must visit to make your time in Berlin even more exciting.

Berlin’s most beautiful square in the historic centre of the metropolis is the Gendarmenmarkt. Anyone who is a fan of architecture and a breathtaking atmosphere should definitely pay a visit to the Gendarmenmarkt. The German cathedral alone is worth a visit. When you enter the cathedral you can see an exhibition of the German Bundestag. On the development of parliamentary democracy in Germany. The French Cathedral houses the Huguenot Museum. The French Friedrichstadtkirche is still in the lower part of the building. A must see for every culture fan.

Time for Mustafa’s vegetable kebap at Mehringdamm

No snack is as famous as Mustafa’s vegetable kebap. For 2.90€ and a lot of patience you get the “best doner kebab in the world” at Mehringdamm. Unbelievably many people even come to Berlin especially for this or come directly from the airport. However, the average waiting time is about 45 to 60 minutes. So it’s best to take a snack with you while you wait in line, because it’s pretty crowded every day. All we can do is tell you it’s worth it! Mustafa’s vegetable kebap is something you should not miss.

Fashion Show – Fashion, Designer and Fashion Weeks in Germany

You have to organize your first fashion show in Berlin, Hamburg or Munich and don’t know where to start yet? In our small agency 1×1 for models and designers you will find all the important points you need to consider when planning a fashion show. From the first model casting to the rehearsal before the show. As an agency we have already accompanied several fashion shows, among others together with Daab at the Mercedes-Benz Cologne Fashion Days. Based on our experience as young designers we not only want to give you tips for planning, but also a small checklist!

Fashion show definition – What is a fashion show exactly?

fashion show according to Duden – catwalk, runway, fashion show, …

A fashion show is defined in the Duden as “an event at which the latest fashions are presented”. This is very broad. Closer illuminated is a fashion show the presentation of fashion collections in a certain staging. The collections of designers and labels are usually presented seasonally on the catwalk by models. The staging of the fashion show can be determined individually, there is no generally defined procedure. As a rule, a fashion show ends with a repeated, fast appearance of all models of the show and the “bowing” of the designer to the audience. The audience can be either the general public or an exclusive circle of invited guests and/or the press. As a rule, however, every fashion show focuses on a few key points in the organisation of agencies:

  1. Needed List – All details of planning / PR / Show in highlights
  2. Model Casting – The perfect models and measurements for the fashion collection
  3. Choreography – A detailed planning of the individual “pictures” (scenes)
  4. Public Relations – We inspire the right people from the label
  5. Rehearsal – Final dress rehearsal for all models of the fashion show
  6. Fashion show – The big moment for fashion designers
  7. Press work – After the show is before the show!

Düsseldorf Fashion Show – CPD & Platform Fashion

The CPD fashion fair is held regularly in Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf is THE fashion city in NRW. The CPD regularly attracts numerous fashion enthusiasts and retailers. The Fashion platform in Düsseldorf is also popular in the fashion industry.

Catwalk music for the fashion show

Our cute New Face Franziska: Classy and elegant

Parallel to Fashion Week we invited our New Face Franziska to Berlin. In Berlin-Mitte, on Museum Island, we had the perfect location to present our young talent in a completely different light. With two photo shoots and this new video from our videographer Robin Platte. Franziska is a real cutie! Although she is still very young, she is already very professional in her work and shows absolute motivation and commitment to become a model. Of course, as a model manager and model agency, it is a pleasure to meet such fresh talent in Berlin and get to know her for the first time, just like me. Franziska has strong prerequisites to really get off to a good start as a model. From fashion magazines, catwalks, photo shoots to videos for fashion companies. We and our partners see great potential in Franziska and that is why we were very pleased to welcome them to Berlin. But enough written, pictures say more than a thousand words!

Charming! Camille is very British, so we are all the more pleased that we were able to win the Hamburg model as a partner in Germany and management. Camille is Curvy Model and brings in all shootings, every single look absolutely ontime. We are very pleased to be able to work with her. Especially the plus size market for oversize and curved models is growing more and more and needs new talents like Camille!

VIPs are also looking for Curved Models for jobs on TV, but fashion bloggers like Riccardo Simonetti are also at Fashion Week looking for great Plus Size Models for their Hamburg fashion show. Accordingly, our customers are increasingly sending us requests and enquiries as to whether we have a beautiful curved model for the next photo shoot. Now we have it!

Camille is our first Curved Model and we are very happy to support her as management in building her model portfolio as well as her career. Camille’s first fashion video, shot together in Berlin, can now be found on our YouTube Channel! If you don’t want to miss a video, follow our modeling agency on YouTube.

Our next Superstar: Luisa

The next Cara Delevingne? This is not a quote from us but a quote from Chefscout of one of the biggest model agencies in the world. Based in New York, Paris and many other cities. Luisa is New Face and just got back from the USA. She was there for a year and learned a lot about life and the country. Now she is back in Germany and we start her modeling career. This includes not only first test shoots and videos, but also castings for international agencies to prepare for life as a model in the big world. Very rarely, the scouts of the biggest international agencies visit our model agencies in Berlin or Cologne to meet some of our models, selected and selected. What is such an internal agency casting about? For months and even years in advance, the world’s largest and most renowned agencies have secured the option for young models. Whoever has absolutely great talent will be confirmed years in advance for one of the major international agencies.

Until then, we as the parent agency will take care of the construction, organize shootings, jobs, coaching and much more to prepare the model for work in one of the largest agencies. Here one makes it on the big magazines and partly also on the covers, wow, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, to name only a few names. If you have so many visitors to the house, there is a good chance that you will meet with rejection, also due to small details. Perhaps the hip is 1 cm too wide or on the shoulder. Maybe there’s already someone of that guy in New York, Milan or Paris.

But sometimes, you manage to get a head scout out of the role in such a way that he can only rave. Amazing. Fantastic. The next Cara Delevingne! Luisa is extremely motivated and makes great efforts, has the perfect conditions not only in moderation and figure but also in personality. We are extremely pleased to represent her as a parent agency and to take the step into a modeling career with her. In Berlin we produced two videos directly, with her in portrait, alone and focused and with her model colleague Hannah, of whom we recently reported about her new video. Here is Luisa I Fashion Video from Berlin! If you want to see more of yourself, look in Luisa’s model portfolio now.

If you don’t want to miss any video of Luisa and also no video of our other models and men’s models, then check out our Youtube channel now and follow our model agency on YouTube!

Beautiful & Classy Model: LUISA

Eugenia – Beautiful, smart and with new fashion video!

New Faces are special or she is something very special! Her look, her look, her charisma, her positive way and her effect on people, in real life, at castings or at photo shootings. Eugenia already knows a lot to tell and implement in her early years. Therefore we are very happy to support you as a model agency and management, not on short-term goals but on sustainable success in Germany and internationally!

You can always find new photos of Eugenia in her model portfolio and today this new, chic video is added as a candy. Our agency Videograph Robin Platte went to a lot of trouble in Berlin and met Eugenia for this small, strong visual enhancement of her book!
Why are videos so important for videographers and customers?

Many agencies still rely on pure image material, and many jobs are no longer just about photos. Small video sequences are made for Instagram, more elaborate sequences for YouTube and of course even more elaborate for TV, streaming portals or cinema advertising. For many casting agencies it is therefore important to get a moving image of the model. How are the looks? Twists? Movements?

Today came Eugenia’s new video on our YouTube Channel! If you don’t want to miss a video of her but also of our other models and also of our male models, then follow us on YouTube!

Here is Eugenia’s new video! You can find more of it in Eugenias Modelbook.

Zoe: Elegant & Classy Model in Berlin

The new video of our New Face Model Zoe! She has an absolutely strong expression in her face, performs first-class in front of the camera and is not only great for photo shoots, e.g. for online shops or lookbooks, but also in front of the video camera Zoe is an absolute eye-catcher. With her new and second video Zoe shows how strong she can perform in front of the camera. Their look is international. She herself comes from southwest Germany and visited us for this photo shoot in Berlin. As a model agency we also organized our big model agency casting parallel to Fashion Week. Before the casting we went to the video shooting with our Zoe. span>

Miss Long Legs: Michelle! New Showreel

If Michelle doesn’t conquer the catwalks of the world, I don’t know! Today we’re introducing our new New Face, Michelle! Met at our last modelcasting, we were immediately enchanted by Michelle. Especially her long hair, which gave us an absolute “Victoria’s Secret Moment” while running, immediately confirmed our opinion that Michelle has to model! Whether in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg or Munich, as long as our New Face is not yet abroad, we will make every effort to push her as far as possible so that she is perfectly prepared for modeling abroad – parallel to school.

With her measurements, but also with her positive nature and her unique charisma, Michelle is becoming a professional day by day. Today we have something very special, her first fashion video for her model portfolio. Videos are important, especially to give customers an impression of how the model moves, but their facial expressions are also their way and effect on people. Whether for Instagram, YouTube, TV, streaming portals like Netflix or cinema, in so many areas it is important that models deliver perfect video formats.

Michelle also has special qualities for the catwalk. Fashion shows, just like made for them. That’s why we’re all the more looking forward to the coming months and years together. If you want to see the first photos of Michelle, you can find them in Michelle’s model folder!

If you don’t want to miss a video of her but also of our other models, then follow our model agency on YouTube!

Let’s start with our first highlight episode, July 2018, from Berlin to Munich!

Hot! Our Curvy Supermodel Camille + Requirements, measurements and castings

While Angelina Kirsch is looking for her new Curvy supermodel on RTL2, we’ve already found ours! Wonderful Camille. She’s a real gold piece, or even better, a diamond! Because how often do you as a model agency have the luck to find a young model who is not only super committed and motivated, but who also has the perfect conditions as a curvy model. With her size of 42 she has great dimensions to work for fashion but also generally in advertising.

Curvy Models: Upcoming in fashion shows, TV and advertising

We have received a lot of questions in the last weeks, also now again about the TV show, mostly:

What are the Curvy Supermodel requirements?

people for TV shows are of course cast much differently than models for an international agency. In TV and television, the focus is on people who go out of their way, polarize and ideally offer viewers an entertaining evening every week. In a real model agency, however, you are not booked to tell exciting and personal stories or to get more reach through disputes. Model agencies are all about professional posing so that pictures can be taken quickly and the team can continue with the next outfit. No one needs to stage themselves or tell private stories, here it’s all about your skills! Basically, TV casting shows and model agency castings differ in that people are selected for television who stand out due to strong emotions or a lot of speech. The requirements in a modeling agency, on the other hand, focus on your talent and skills as a model.

In principle it is important for you as a model that if you want to work professionally as a plus size or curvy model, you are looking for a management that does not plan with you for a show series but 4 years. So that you can develop step by step, your model portfolio gets better and better, you can gain real experience through real jobs and thus become better and more self-confident. With fixed contact persons and also confidence in you, if it does not run so well at the beginning.

Become a Curvy Model: Prerequisites, conditions and requirements

As you just saw, the requirements for TV castings and real castings in a model agency differ. There are also ideal sizes for Plus Size Models. As a Plus Size Model you should have at least a clothing size of 42, even better 44 or 46 for female models. Let’s take a look at the details of the requirements for Curvy Models

Prerequisites: Plus Size / Curvy Model Dimensions: Size and confection

The market for female Plus Size Models is much larger than that for male models. That is the first criterion. Why is that so? Of course, women are much more fashion-oriented on average. Since more women are interested in fashion and also consume it, female models in particular are booked for photo shoots and advertising films.

As a Curvy Model you need the size described above which ideally is 44. But you can also work with a 42 or 46 as a plaster model. If the customer wants to book a Class Plus Size Model, it is especially because he is looking for women with curves for production. This means it is an advantage to have real curves, not just a little bit of baby fat. Did you know the average woman has a size of 44! These women are therefore looking for people in magazines, advertising or online shops with whom they can identify well.

Unlike a high fashion model, the height of a Plus Size model is less important. What is the reason for this? As a high fashion model you also work in many showrooms and for fashion shows. The grid is very narrow here, since the competition is very large. Women must also always match the male models, with high heels. At the end of a fashion show, a uniform line is to be created when one considers over the heads of the models. This ensures harmony in the show and more focus on fashion. Curvy Models are currently booked mainly for photo shoots and commercials. This makes it possible to become a Curvy model even without a body height of 176 cm, due to the lower competition. As a Curvy model you can also work with 174cm, if the other total package is right.

If you are completely satisfied with your curves and like to show yourself, like fashion and trends, then consider applying as a model! The market is relatively new and the competition is not so big, take your chance!

You can easily measure your own measurements and size yourself here: Model Dimensions: Requirements and size

Conditions to become a Curvy Model

As with any model, you need self-confidence! You must like your body, your curves, yourself! Because as a model you are not only in front of the cameras, but you are also often enough a role model for young people but also for older people. In campaigns, you stand for a healthy lifestyle or a fulfilled life, for example. Whether it’s for Instagram and we’re talking about fashion or insurance and you’re happy driving a sports car on the beach. Emotions have to be honest and authentic. In order to master this, one must know one’s body exactly, one’s own abilities but also one’s own facial expressions must be constantly controlled. With each individual photo, click, click, click must be both the posing sitting as well as your facial features and emotions. To combine all this on one point and to deliver professionally, focused in a shooting date, is really a high art. The A&O for Plus Size Models but also for models with sizes 32, 34 or 36 is your own body feeling and that you are happy and satisfied with yourself.

Requirements for castings on the job

When you go on castings or jobs, clients expect absolute professionalism from you in a job. Professionalism as a model contains many different aspects. This includes, for example, preparation for a job. You have to go to bed early enough, maybe even plan your trip or have just arrived from the airport and are at Hotel Check Iin. No party, no sightseeing, you prepare yourself for the next day and your job, so that you appear with absolutely fresh skin, a smile on your lips and no circles around your eyes on the set and during styling. Again, you have to prove that you should ideally be at the location 15 minutes in advance, you can drink a little water or write a few messages to your friend. It is important that the production can always count on you, just like your model agency to push and advance you even more with the customer.

Yes, as a Curvy and Plus Size Model you have to be able to do quite a lot and they demand a lot from you, but you can see a lot of the world! Shootings, nice people and people, creative arts directors, photographers, videographers, other models, designers or even employees from marketing and models who become friends. As a model you can expect an exciting life, if you are very committed, diligent and also a little bit lucky with the customers. Because there will always be competition! That’s why you have to work hard and not assume that you can automatically live from modeling. This requires a lot of effort and also some investment, e.g. in your model portfolio.
Become

Plus Size Model

If you liked all this and now you want to become a model or know a good friend who should definitely become a Curvy model, then we would be very happy about the application! With our model agency we not only work in Berlin and Cologne, our models work internationally and also in cities like Milan, Tokyo or Los Angeles. We are very happy about new talents and your trust in our model management. For a common future and a secure and reliable agency with a worldwide network for your development.

Fashion TV can be received worldwide on TV devices but also streamed on your mobile phone via app or simply on your notebook.

The station runs at many hotspots worldwide, from chic and luxurious restaurants in the city centre to model agencies like ours. In Germany we are the very first model agency to be asked for. For us, this is an incredible confirmation after only three years. This is not only the second time that Bravo Magazine has voted us one of the top 10 model agencies in Germany this week, but we are also making good progress worldwide!

Working in Milan, Paris and New York

In September the new Placement & On Stay season for our young models starts. Placement means that you are represented by another agency, many of our models then fly to the respective cities for two months to be there to do castings but also to be quickly available for jobs, so On Stay! For many of our young girls this year for the first time they are going abroad to work after they have successfully completed high school or high school. Arina from Munich at the London Fashion Week + New Video

Arina lives in southern Germany, between mountains, fresh air and a lot of nature! The perfect conditions to have the perfect conditions as a model with a healthy lifestyle and a little sport. Although it does not quite reach the 176cm, Arina has great potential not only for the German market, but also for the international model market.

Arina at London Fashion Week – 5 shows

Already in her first weeks Arina was at the London Fashion Week! With a total of 5 jobs she had a great start in her career there. Modeling in London is a real challenge! Because in London there is a lot of competition for castings. In Berlin, where you may be with 10 or 15 other models, 80 to 100 models come to a designer casting in London, especially for Fashion Week. The castings are not even public! Only the good model agencies get the casting dates and addresses for the fashion shows in London. Our Arina made it with our partner agency Body London directly on 5 shows. We are very proud of our little one! Arina is an absolute new discovery and we hope that you will soon see her on Instagram channels of your favourite fashion brands or in the online shop with new fashion collections. If you want to see more of Arina, check out Arina’s model portfolio!

Bravo Magazine: CM among the Top 10 Modeling Agencies 2018

How wonderful is that? If there is a model agency recommendation for young models, then we are! Especially for fast-moving TV. Only 3 years ago we were founded and already we are internationally active, from Tokyo to Los Angeles. After various top lists we are now listed for the second time in the Bravo as top recommendation for Germany. Big Merci!

Bravo Fashion Magazine: The Portal + Magazine for Kids and Teenagers

Bravo has been Germany’s most popular youth magazine for decades and is therefore an important voice when it comes to judging model agencies and their quality. Today a fan sent us a new article: GNTM castings + top agencies Germany.

Soon the Germany’s Next Topmodel Castings will start again. Heidi Klum is also looking for new top models in 2019. Besides practical tips for the live castings in various German cities, Bravo also gives recommendations for models who are looking for a long-term career and would like to work for the big customers in Germany and abroad. With us: Cocaine Models! For the second time Bravo Top 10, yes! One of the best alternatives to a short-term TV show, so to speak. With sustainable development, personal development, real jobs, not only for PR and a team that looks after you personally.

We would like to thank the Bravo editorial team that last year we were among the Top recommendations in Germany. In just three years we have overtaken major model agencies in Hamburg, Munich and Berlin, which is already 30 years old! Mission accomplished!

Do you know our fashion magazine?

Parallel to our model agency, we also founded our fashion magazine FIV in 2015. Since then we had great interviews, events and of course many unforgettable moments behind the scenes. With interviews of absolute supermodels like Alexandra Ambrosio, Victoria Secret Model, Zombie Boy from Canada and the USA or the sweet Pamela Reif with almost 4 million fans, just on Instagram. In our fashion magazine you will not only find exciting interviews with absolute instagram and YouTube stars, but also exciting interviews with our fashion photographer, models and of course fashion designers. Of course we also visit Fashion Week for you! Whether Berlin, London or New York, we are at the hotspots and backstage for you to report. Take a look at our fashion magazine.

With the first photo shootings, in Berlin-Mitte but also now with the new video from Celine. Strong and safe posing right from the beginning, captivating, super expression, as well in all facial expressions and gestures: Everything is right! Celine is well equipped to become a great model in the months and years to come. Video Shooting in Berlin: Classical Music for the Book

That’s why we were really looking forward to the first video shoot in Berlin! With our model agency videographer Robin and fashion photographer Oliver Rudolph we made our way to produce the first photos in Germany. We are extremely looking forward to the cooperation and we hope to be able to present you the first results of Jobs soon.

Today Linns new video was released on our YouTube Channel! If you don’t want to miss a video of her but also of our other models, then follow our model agency on YouTube! You can find more photo galleries in Linn’s model portfolio.

The second video of our enchanting Linn! Back from New York we go directly to Berlin for the photo shoot and the video shoot for her model portfolio. In order to give our customers in Germany a perfect impression of Linn, we wanted to produce up-to-date images and video material directly as an agency. Of course, Berlin has the perfect locations for this. We grabbed our Creative Art Director Oliver Rudolph and our videographer Robin Platte and dived into the centre of Berlin with Linn. Instead of in urban Berlin (corners with graffiti, posters, partly prefabricated buildings), this time we decided on a classic location, very close to the Museum Island. Here we can also show Linn from a completely different light, classic and elegant.

You will find the photos in her modelbook soon! We also have this wonderful new video for you! You can find more of Linn, of course also all photos and videos, in Linn’s model folder.

If you don’t want to miss a video of Linn and our other models and men’s models, then follow our model agency on YouTube!

Short trip Berlin? The best districts for your business trip as a model

You got your next job as a model in Berlin? Congratulations! But when you’re in the capital for the first time, you’re sure to feel lost. But Berlin isn’t as big as you think, if you know a little bit about it! So that you arrive safely on your next trip and can also explore the most beautiful places directly and find the perfect hotel or also an inexpensive alternative to the hotel, we have summarized here once the best tips for Berlin. First of all, do we basically get to the question, in which parts of the city does it even live to be a model?

The best districts of Berlin

If you are already booking a hotel or a cheap accommodation, then you should definitely settle down in the more beautiful places of Berlin, where you can experience something after a strenuous job, find cosy and tasty restaurants or even one or the other club, e.g. if it continues for you only the next day.

Berlin hot spots for your first visit

  • Berlin-Mitte: Typical city instead of typical Berlin, but central
  • Prenzlauer Berg: For a cosy time in Berlin
  • Friedrichshain: Party and Lifestyle 24/7
  • Kreuzberg: International and still Berlin
  • Berlin-Mitte: Typical city instead of typical Berlin, but central

Jobs in Berlin, tips for your next trip

In the middle of Berlin you can’t do anything wrong, you are in the centre of all places, and between Zoo, Potsdamer Platz and Alexanderplatz, you have numerous possibilities to eat something tasty but also to experience something in the evening. The area around Berlin Mitte is characterized by tourism but also by busy people, from Monday to Friday. On weekends you will usually find tourists here, strolling from one place to another. The absolute advantage of Berlin Mitte, you are very central and can reach all places quickly. It’s also very safe here and you have very elegant nightlife. The little disadvantage, life is a bit more expensive and of course you don’t get to know the real Berlin and the real Berliners! And exactly these beautiful experiences on journeys, meeting new people, new cultures but also simply new areas, is one of the absolute advantages which one can enjoy as a model. It is guaranteed not to be boring! But if you want to experience a bit more of Berlin, then maybe you should settle down in one of these districts. The advantage, you can easily find them! Around Berlin Mitte, we start northeast in Prenzlauer Berg. You reach Prenzlauer Berg directly above Alexanderplatz. Then it goes down to the south via Friedrichshain to Kreuzberg.

Prenzlauer Berg: For a cosy time in Berlin

The home of hipsters and young families is especially for those who want to experience a dignified Berlin, the best area for cheap overnight stays like at Airbnb or hotel rooms. Here in Prenzlauer Berg you will find fewer original Berliners, but many newcomers, but a very relaxed Berlin atmosphere, beautiful streets and a little green left and right. In Prenzlauer Berg there is more upscale gastronomy, although you can still afford it, of course, because the prices in Berlin are not as overpriced as in Munich, for example. In Prenzlauer Berg you will also find numerous smaller clubs, where you can spend the evening relaxed to jazz sounds or dance to house and hip hop. In Prenzlauer Berg you will find fewer tourists, many newcomers and therefore a very interesting and international mix.

Friedrichshain: Party and Lifestyle 24/7

If you want to experience something more and also a little younger culture, then you should definitely take a look at Berlin Friedrichshain. Here you will not only find the trendy scene clubs around Warschauer Straße, e.g. the Great Crested Grebe, here you will also find real Berlin streets. A little snotty, a little edgy, totally adorable! Friedrichshain is a smaller district in relation to Prenzlauer Berg and Kreuzberg; it connects the two central and multicultural parts of Berlin. Here you can find party tourists in particular, which is why you can also experience a lot in the evening. From the club with swimming pool to simply hanging around on the street, e.g. on Warsaw Street and the many exciting possibilities that arise around this place. If you go a little further, only a few minutes, you are already at the beginning of Kreuzberg!

Kreuzberg: International and still Berlin

Just a few decades ago Kreuzberg was the multicultural district in which there were many problems. As a result, many creative people settled here and artists, so Kreuzberg became the popular district it is today. Kreuzberg perfectly connects the Berlin world and the international, tourists meet here with real local but also with dressed up and of course hipsters. The district is very cosy and offers with its various small bars, restaurants and clubs for every evening alternate. Berlin Kreuzberg will definitely not be boring for you as a model, neither during the day nor in the evening. During the day you can get various snacks from all over the world in hundreds of small restaurants, from the classics of Italy and Turkey to Mongolian, Kenyan or Indian, all cultures of the world can be found here! Kreuzberg also offers numerous hotels as well as Airbnb overnight accommodations, so that you can be right in the district and feel right at home here.

City map, travel to Berlin: Top recommendations for your short trip

We have summarized all three districts once again for you here in a clear map. Of course the other districts of Berlin are always worth a visit, but here you would have the easiest entry and get to know a beautiful part of Berlin. Not only a nice part, but also a lot of entertainment that not only the original Berliner gives but also tourists and business people. This mix makes the capital a very special place and also a hotspot in Germany not only for models but also for fashion designers and celebrities.

How do I find the best and cheapest hotel in Berlin?

If you are looking for a quick way to spontaneously book a hotel in Berlin, the best way is a booking portal and Booking.com.

On hotel booking portals you will not only find reviews and recommendations of other users but you will also constantly find the current availability. Often you have to make a lot of calls to find available rooms, booking portals provide a quick and uncomplicated insight into the current situation. Especially at big events, mostly fairs, many hotels are fully booked, because international guests also arrive and some companies book out half hotels directly, e.g. if a big division comes from China. Therefore it is recommended to take a look at such booking portals.

It pays to book via Airbnb for Berlin?

If you want to save some money, booking with Airbnb is definitely worthwhile. However, if you have a demanding and stressful job, it is sometimes advisable to book a hotel, as they take care of you completely. You don’t have to worry about food or keeping your room clean. So you can fall straight into bed late in the evening, after a strenuous job in Berlin. Usually the customer or your model agency will book the hotel anyway. This is the advantage of management, we take care of all your concerns! This way you can fully concentrate on your career and get the right input from your management to develop your career.

Charlene: Tooth gap, full lips and from Paris – new video

In spring our powerwoman Charlene was booked by Onygo in Cologne. Of course we used this to get to know our Charlene better and to film a new showreel with her. Charlene is especially unique because of her gap between her teeth and her full lips, her hair is chin-long and blond. She is constantly on the move, she lives in Paris and travels to Berlin, then back to New York. What many people don’t know: She not only likes to stand in front of the camera, but also behind it! She lives out her creativity in her short films and photos. In keeping with her style, Robin has also kept her show reel: a bit gloomy and grungy.  But check out the show reel itself:

A visit in our Agency: Luisa & Hannah

Luisa is back! Her second fashion video with our model Hannah. After we already told you a few days ago about her first fashion video from Berlin, at our model agency visit, today on our model agency Youtube Channel appears her new video together with our Zoe. Videos are important to get an impression of the model, in motion and facial expressions. Interacting with a second model raises the bar. Because both looks have to sit, the position, the movement, really challenging. You have a strict timeline, a producing team and not eternally time. A good exercise for our models and a nice video for our customers to see how great they perform in front of the camera. If you want to see more of them you can find photos and videos in Luisa’s model folder but also in Hannah’s model folder.

More videos of the two but also of our other models you can find on our model agency on YouTube!

Modeling Abroad – René Vowerk as a Male Model in Istanbul

Modeling Abroad Part #1 – Rene Vorwerk was 45 days in Istanbul! With model flat-sharing and everything that goes with it, a real experience: “You meet models from all countries”. Rene has shot for JACK & JONES, Lescon, Under Armour and Nike. Go abroad as a model? For many models, both new comers and professionals, a constant theme. With a stay abroad, some plans come your way, you will be rewarded with plenty of experiences – no matter where in the world you are.

Many young models are concerned about whether they can cope independently abroad, what exactly awaits them and which country or city is the right choice. René von Cocaine Models was just on the road as a model in Istanbul. I talked to him about his stay abroad in the Turkish metropolis.

René says Istanbul is a real experience: “You meet models from all countries”

CM: René, what attracted you to Istanbul?

I generally wanted to go abroad for modeling and since my mother agency in Germany was looking for models for Istanbul, I contacted them directly! Since I was already on vacation in Istanbul before, I knew that the city is super beautiful – I didn’t have to think long!

CM: How did you prepare for the “big trip”?

I prepared myself by training one or two extra days in the gym to really be physically on top level – that is very important for me as a model to be and remain competitive!

CM: Your stay was not only a “great adventure”, but above all of a professional nature, what experiences did you generally have as a model in this city?

New experiences for me were definitely the jobs for the music videos and the internet advertising film! Acting was completely new to me, but I really enjoyed it, because I always had super nice teams! Another good experience was that you meet models from other countries every day, talk, exchange opinions and experiences and make really good contacts and friendships. Being among’like-minded people’ every day feels great, there is always a lot to laugh about and it never gets boring!

Jack&Jones, Lescon, Under Armour and Nike: Model René on his success in Istanbul

CM: What types of models have a particularly good chance of success in Istanbul?

In my experience Central European blond model types have great chances in Istanbul! I was very successful there and was able to get three to four jobs every week!

CM: What kind of jobs did you get? How did they go off?

In the beginning there were some webshop jobs. After the first two weeks came the first jobs of castings, like music videos or catalog jobs for Turkish companies. After four weeks I was able to add webshops for well-known sports brands like’Nike’ and’Under Armour’. The longer I was there, the better the jobs. Towards the end I was in the top 2 for the new ‘Türkish Airlines’ commercial and did a campaign job for LTB jeans – the shop posters will also be released in Germany, of which I am very proud! Generally I have to say that I always had super nice people and teams around me. It was not always possible for everyone to speak English, but it was still possible to communicate by hand and foot!

CM: What was your daily routine in Istanbul like? What was difficult about everyday life? What was pleasant?

On days when you had a job, you were picked up by our driver between 7.00 am and 9.00 am and driven to the customer. Mostly the jobs were finished at 4 pm to 7 pm. Some of the jobs were followed by castings or fittings. If you weren’t home too late after all, you still went to the gym. Of course there were also completely free days, where we went shopping in the city or did a little’sightseeing’! It was difficult to concentrate on casting after a long job (often 10 hours) and smile at the customer, but it is absolutely part of the job! Long waiting times at castings were stressful – when you have to wait three hours or more with 60 models in one room and everyone tries to occupy themselves somehow. It was a pleasure to make new contacts again!

CM: How did you live there?

I lived in our Malemodel Apartment with three models at the beginning. In the end, there were only two of us. Our apartment was purposefully small, but from the location super good, we could reach everything under 10 minutes on foot!

model-maennermodel-rene-ausland-job-modeln-eu-istanbul-trends-reisen-blogger-blog-interview-(7)

Model flat share, gym and city: Istanbul has a lot to offer

CM: What have you done and experienced in the city besides casting and jobs?

After the model’s everyday life we often stayed in the huge shopping mall in Sisli, which is one of the largest in Europe. It took 10 minutes to walk from our apartment. There you could really buy everything you could imagine! There was a big casino with two roller coasters inside, that was breathtaking! One day we took the ferry to the Asian side of Istanbul and searched the streets and shops there! We walked a lot and took the subway.

CM: What are your personal highlights of Istanbul? (Also especially for models)

One of my highlights is Istanbul itself! It is an unbelievably beautiful city, both in the snow and in blue skies! Sitting in a café with friends, drinking Turkish tea and enjoying the best views of the Bosphorus and the other side is a super good feeling! For models it is very interesting, because it is a completely different model everyday life than I am used to from Germany, because you live together with other models and always have someone around you!

CM: What can you recommend to other models for a stay in Istanbul?

In any case, it is recommended not to crumble on the couch after a long and hard day, but to go outside to see something of this wonderful city! Generally, of course, it is very polite to be on castings and jobs – if everyone is happy and in a good mood, it’s even more fun!

CM: What did you particularly like as a model in Istanbul? What wasn’t so great?

I didn’t like the pay for the jobs so much less than you know it in Germany! Otherwise, if you have to say that you have a lot more jobs a week and it pays off in the end! I liked the team spirit and the people from my agency, we were like a family among each other. The jobs were similar – always very polite and nice people.

René recommendation: An extra tube of Face-Cleaner & cream!

CM: What problems and complications can German models encounter in Istanbul?

Some models have problems with Turkish food. If you don’t like that and don’t eat anything from the canteen at work, you always have to look after yourself and take something from home with you. The water from the pipes is not as clean as we are used to from Germany and so some models had problems with their skin – an extra tube of cream or cleaner from home is not wrong!

CM: What did you take with you from modeling in Istanbul for your future?

I have many friends and contacts to photographers and brands from all over the world! You are brought back to the ground a bit and you notice how good you are as a model in Germany when it comes to working hours! In general it was a super nice experience and I would never decide otherwise. I will definitely fly back this year and work there!

CM: What should models who want to come to Istanbul prepare for? What do I have to pay special attention to?

You can’t really prepare yourself, as I said, physical fitness is important – like everywhere else, even if you have chosen your profession as a model! You should pack plenty of creams and cleansing agents that you always use and prepare yourself for a hard everyday life! Istanbul is a 23 million city, there are 12 castings in one day, with travel times of up to one hour! In some areas you should not leave your apartment in the evening, as it can be dangerous! As in any big city, there are poorer areas that should definitely be avoided! We had really done everything right with the location of our apartment in Sishane!

model-maennermodel-rene-ausland-job-modeln-eu-istanbul-trends-blogger-blog-interview-(12)

In Istanbul, respect counts

CM: Cultural differences: Do foreigners in Istanbul and Turkey in general need to pay attention to anything? Are there certain “rules” and “customs” that everyone should respect / What is different about life there than in Germany?

In Turkey, people always treat older people with respect, get up in the metro for older people and leave them sitting down. Some Germans should be aware of that! Typical customs are people wiping their plates with bread to make it clear that they are full! In my first days I was surprised that people still wanted to give me a second helping until someone enlightened me!

CM: Would you recommend Istanbul for working for models from Germany? Why yes, why no?

I would definitely recommend Istanbul to the German models, because we can really get many jobs and are extremely in demand there! You gain a lot of experience for the job and get very good pictures from top photographers to expand your own portfolio! For me there is no reason not to work in Istanbul!

Model Johanna in Athens: Greece – modeling, living and working abroad

Going abroad as a model – a constant theme for many models, both New Comers and professionals. With a stay abroad, some plans come your way, you will be rewarded with plenty of experiences – no matter where in the world you are. Many young models are concerned about whether they can cope independently abroad, what exactly awaits them and which country or city is the right choice. Johanna von Cocaine Models is currently on the road as a model in Athens. I spoke to her about her stay abroad in the Greek capital.

Model Johanna – modeling in relaxed Athens

CM: Johanna, you are a model in Athens until the end of February, how did you get there?

I was already working here in November 2014 for one month, now my agency asked if I am available again and I came back. My agency in Cologne has put me in touch with the agency here in Athens.

CM: Why Athens of all places? What attracted you to Athens as a model?

I didn’t choose Athens directly, it turned out rather like this. But it is a beautiful city with a relaxed working atmosphere & the weather is wonderful.

Johanna-Model-Sedcard-Fashion-Editorial-Commercial-Catwalk-Onlineshop-Tv-Portrait-22

CM: Would you recommend Athens as a model city?

I would recommend Athens as a model city so far away that you can get good pictures here. Most models come to Athens to take good pictures and gain experience, not to earn the big money, because the payment is rather meagre. But to make contacts and get good pictures Athens is absolutely recommendable.

Modeling Experience Athens – Preparations & Experiences

CM: How did you prepare for your trip there?

Actually one does not have to prepare oneself really great, the hotel is booked before by the agency for the model and one must actually only book his flight and fly off. It is important to plan your meals on site before your trip, as not all apartments have kitchens and you are often on the road the whole day. I always take a few plastic cans and plastic cutlery with me so that I can cook my food on the spot and take it with me during the day.

CM: What are your experiences as a model in Athens so far?

Firstly, the people in Athens are mostly very friendly. Everything is very relaxed! On the other hand, there is always work here. There are many good photographers in Athens and clients are loyal and book you back when they are satisfied with you.

CM: How would you describe the model target group in Greece, which model types are in demand?

Blond and brown-haired models are the absolute favorite here, Asian and dark-skinned models have it rather hard here. Besides, the Greeks don’t like “too skinny” girls that much. One of my friends was even cheated a few centimetres more on her hip for her sedcard.

CM: Which castings should you attend and which jobs did you get during your time in Greece?

There are castings every day for the most different jobs, there is everything. You go to castings for fashion shows, TV commercials, online shops, magazines, editorials or campaigns. Anything you can imagine. I did some shootings for online shops, for example for sunglasses or clothes, such shootings are enough for every model here, two campaigns +TV spot, web campaigns, editorial for a magazine and more.

Johanna-Model-Sedcard-Fashion-Editorial-Commercial-Catwalk-Onlineshop-Tv-Portrait-21

Johanna between Castings & Jobs – Breakfast, Coffee, Castings

CM: What is your daily modeling life in Athens like?

Get up, make breakfast, then on the way to the castings or bookings get a coffee, which is super cheap here, then it goes with the metro, the bus, the trolley or on foot to the casting. There you are usually five to 10 minutes and then you go on to the next casting. Bookings, on the other hand, are more relaxed. The model has a given arrival time, as a model you are usually on time and then wait an hour for the client or the make-up artists. Then, on average, eight hours or more are worked.

CM: How did you live and how did you get it?

Each agency has its own apartments/hotels for the models, in which you are automatically accommodated. I stayed at the hotel last time, too. There you share the room with another girl and if you are lucky you will find the bathroom in the room, otherwise you have to share the bathroom in the hallway with the other hotel occupants. There is also a small kitchen where you can make yourself something to eat. Accommodation in a hotel costs 17 Euro per night and will be deducted from the money you receive. But this time I live with friends, it’s cheaper and you have more space.

CM: How did you spend your time in Athens away from modeling?

In the evenings you often go out, have fun and have a drink. Otherwise you can of course visit the Acropolis and other sights. I also spend a lot of time in the shopping streets and when I have a day off I go to the sea.

Athens – Highlights & Recommendations

CM: What are your personal Athens highlights?

The Acropolis in any case, one should go up there once, alone to enjoy the view! This is completely free of charge for European students. Another highlight are of course the new friends and the hours together. An insider tip: The spinach feta pie which you can buy here in all bakeries is great and should be plastered on every visit to Athens.

CM: What do you recommend to other models who go to Athens for a while?

Calmness! Even if you are a young model who is a little panicked for the first few days, you are never too late in Greece. Furthermore, I can only recommend a good contact to the local agency. I have seen that if you visit the agency more often and maintain a good relationship, you get a lot of help and the agency gives you some opportunities. Always take sunscreen with you, because I even got a little sunburn in February!

CM: What does the modeling industry in Athens and Greece look like?

She’s definitely big! There are many jobs, albeit for less money. Due to Greece’s financial situation, one can certainly imagine how people have to struggle with it to pay enough. Nevertheless, there is work for every willing to work! I haven’t met anyone here who hasn’t worked. Nevertheless, the market for Male Models is very narrow, because there are enough Greek boys on site.

<Johanna-Model-Sedcard-Fashion-Editorial-Commercial-Catwalk-Onlineshop-Tv-Portrait-14<

CM: Is a stay in Athens worthwhile for models?

Not necessarily to make big money, but for good pictures and a lot of experiences that really take you further. You can also earn money, but it may well be that in the end there is not so much jumping around when I look at the payment here.

CM: What did you notice positively in Athens, what rather negatively?

The friendly people are positive! Absolutely negative is chronic lateness.

CM: Are there any cultural differences that a German visitor should take into account?

One thing is very unusual: You can order coffee at the bakeries and it will be delivered to you wherever you want! this is super practical! Another big difference and for many probably a big change: Smoking is going on everywhere inside, whether at the shooting, in the restaurant, in the club or at the casting.

Johanna: “Now I’m a pro in posing”

CM: What do you take with you to Germany from your time as a model in Athens?

Many new friends and experiences. Also some pictures, which I can use for my book and fortunately also my earned money. I also take many new contacts with me, which I will certainly be able to use when I come back. One thing I can say for sure: After your stay in Athens you will be a professional in posing for online shop shootings! That’s something every model here takes with them.

Johanna-Model-Sedcard-Fashion-Editorial-Commercial-Catwalk-Onlineshop-Tv-Portrait-15

CM: For which models with what ambitions do you recommend Athens?

I think Athens is something for models with experience as well as for newcomers. Of course you should have a reasonably good book, but you don’t have to work so much to get a foothold here. You shouldn’t be shy either, because you are rather small for a model, because there are rather less fashion shows taking place here.

CM: Dear Johanna, thank you for your interview!

Berlin Fashion Week 2016 – Model Manager: Behind the scenes

Twice a year the fashion industry is drawn to the capital for Berlin Fashion Week. While visitors and the media are mainly interested in shows, buyers and managers from various stores and fashion houses meet at Berlin’s fashion fairs. They all take place parallel to the different fashion shows. In 2016, public events focused primarily on two locations: The “Runway”, beautifully located at the Brandenburg Gate and the “Stage”, Berlin Mitte and easily accessible by shuttle bus from the “Runway”. From Monday to Saturday the motto was: Fashion! Over ten shows, various side events and aftershow parties every day. There was something for everyone. Highlights this year included Marc Cain, Guido Maria Kretschmar, Anne Gorke, and many more. The absolute highlight, however, was the “Candy Fashion”, Key Looks by FashionID (Peek & Cloppenburg) with numerous looks from Esprit to comma; A hall full of cotton candy, sweets and style – but later more about the

Fashion Week Model Management – Preparations, Emails and Networking

For us as managers, Fashion Week naturally starts weeks before – in December. Work starts about six weeks before Fashion Week. In addition to the notebook, the smartphone is a constant companion. The first show packages will be released by the designers. A show package contains among other things the models’ sedcards, but also Polaroids and walking videos. Major modeling agencies are already making special efforts to get the coveted invitations – some even create special sedcards for this event. Why? Fashion Week represents the who is who of the fashion world. Those who can afford it are present here. Therefore it is important to start work early enough. The better the planning in advance, the smoother the castings, fittings and shows run!

While an agency is already rushing into travel plans, overnight stays and the organisation of appointments, the invitations to the castings are gradually coming in. As mentioned above, about fifty individual shows will take place during Fashion Week. This means that there are almost as many model casings in Berlin in advance. A real job.

Models, catwalk training, print sedcards – preparation is half the battle

For us there were almost thirty interesting casting dates this season. We had 10 of our New Faces & catwalk models on site. Just arrived, the rented AirBnB apartment is already being converted into an office for the team. Notebooks, smartphones, casting lists – so that we can work and coordinate perfectly in Berlin, directly from Potsdamer Platz. Advantage: Digital company! We can work anytime and anywhere, so we like to accompany our models on shows and shootings.

We have four days! From notebook to reflex camera, we have everything in our luggage. Monday starts Fashion Week and a few days before, the castings. Most of the Berlin Fashion Week castings take place in the hotels, Berlin Mitte. Anyone who has ever been to a casting knows that many models are coming. Mostly there are even hundreds from all over Germany and partly Europe. Each casting takes place in separate floors and rooms. Immediately after the entrance the first beats form in front of the rooms – from now on it’s time to wait until you can stand in front of the jury. Suddenly the huge hotel lobby is full of people, small suitcases and waiting looks.

Day 1: Arrival and the first casting plans for the shows

Friday 15.01.2015: The Berlin Fashion Week AW 2016 always consists of two parts, the castings and the shows. For spectators often only the important days with the big shows count. For models, however, the days before are crucial. Here, before Fashion Week, model castings for shows and fashion shows take place throughout the city centre. Hundreds of models gather in the capital’s large hotels, but also in showrooms, Ateiliers and agencies. All major agencies are present here. Fashion Week does not only mean prestige, you can make excellent contacts and get to know a lot of new things. The Berlin flair also gives the Fashion Week its unique character. Many models book into the hotels around the city centre. This makes the castings easier to reach and also in the evening there is some time to have a drink with friends or new acquaintances.

Day 2: casting, casting, casting

Saturday 16.01.2015: For four days models and fashion agents speed through the city centre. Everyone is looking for the best jobs and the biggest shows. In the bag are only the most important things, the smartphone is always ready to hand and from morning to evening it goes from casting to casting. While there is a lot of walking during the day, the evening is decisive for the planning of the next day. Which casting should you attend first and which last? Where to find good food quickly and easily? Besides, you have small talk with other models, get more castings. Four days is all about seeing and being seen!

Who knows Castings of Germanys Next Topmodel will be surprised. There is no big stage, no spotlights and only rarely cameras. As a model you have hardly any time, not ten minutes, maximum thirty seconds. Who convinces spontaneously, is often still briefly measured or sent directly to a fast fitting. The jury consists of three or four people who have to evaluate hundreds of people according to purely external criteria within a few hours. As a result, castings often seem impersonal, but this is purely due to time.

The castings usually take place in large city centre hotels, with large rooms and plenty of space for hundreds of models waiting for their Gosee. Small groups are always forming in the waiting rooms, everyone is waiting for the casting call, then the show starts. With the model book and sedcard, the jury is made up mostly of designers, marketing people or other media and production people. Usually there are three or four people. The model walks up to the jury and introduces himself, often with very little time, many only seconds. Many models see here for the first time how big and how strong the competition is in their own and in other model agencies.

Those who have convinced often get a call from their model agent the same evening with the confirmation. Especially good models are also quickly booked so that they are still available for their own fashion show. So the best Mdoels have their success experiences already early – if they did not have first a Direct Booking.

The time in the casting requires a lot of commitment, organisational talent and willpower from the models. Even after the sixth performance on one day you still have to laugh and enjoy your job – even if there were six cancellations before. With this know-how, however, models can learn a lot for jobs and also strengthen their own self-confidence as well as their own perception. The short, but very intense situation with hundreds of other models, shows many a realistic picture and spurs them on to do even more.

The first castings for the shows start Thursday/Friday and then run until Monday evening. Occasionally, however, castings are also carried out before and even during the current Fashion Week. So if you are thinking of joining us as a model, you should plan ten days off.

  • Castings you get almost only with a large, serious model agency or an experienced model agent
  • Show castings go from Thursday to Monday
  • Berlin Fashion Week from Tuesday to Saturday
  • So as a model you should plan on 10 days
  • At least Thursday to Tuesday

Fashion Week Castings and decision of fashion designers

Many designers or agencies usually make their decision on the same day. They will then contact you via all channels to secure the best models. Because every fashion show includes a fitting and calltime. During fitting, clothes are tried on the models, which is usually very quick and only takes thirty minutes. The call time is then, so to speak, the start of work on the show day. All models, brand-up artists and stylists gather at calltime. All models get their assigned clothes as well as their styling. The calltime is therefore often a few hours before the show so that all models are guaranteed to be ready and the show can start on time.

  • Big competition: hundreds of great models meet each other
  • Often there is little time left for individual castings
  • Don’t forget your sedcard

The Fashion Week is much more than castings and shows. At Berlin Fashion Week, thousands of buyers from all over Germany come together in the various order fairs, less spectacularly and media-wise. Whether Panorama, Preium or Seek. Outside the shows there is also a lot to experience for people from the fashion industry.

Order and Fair – the heart of Fashion Week

For many outsiders, Fashion Week means above all shows! Fashion shows are held daily at various locations. In 2016 (Autumn/Winter) everything will focus on the collections of the coming Spring/Summer season. While snow still lies outside in the streets of Berlin, buyers jump from fair to fair to cover themselves with the latest trends.

One of the major order fairs is the international fashion fair “Premium”. At hundreds of stands, merchants crowd together large and well-known brands. Buyers can view and order the latest samples directly here. The fair is only open to trade visitors, so fortunately you have enough space to concentrate on different looks, cuts and colours. While strolling from hall to hall on the Premium, there are small delicacies, coffee and also small and large highlights of the exhibitors all along the edge. Not only fashion, but also accessories and jewellery. At the “Premium”, the manufacturers even fill their own hall. Further fashion fairs can be found all over Berlin. Among other things, there are still the “Seek” and “Panorama”, all only a few underground or suburban train stations apart.

Fittings for the big fashion shows at the runway

For model agents and model agencies, the final phase is now underway. It takes less than an hour to recharge your phone. While Desigenr’s assistants call to request models, models request the first fitting and call times and in parallel the first confirmations must be sent via e-mail. The phone doesn’t stop for three days and as a manager it’s hard to get away from the notebook. Therefore the show list fills up, confirmation for confirmation. Models receive asap their information and designers the booking confirmation. Even on Monday evening, plans are still being made for the coming morning – and off we go: It’s Fashion Week!

Shows and events at Fashion Week

From Tuesday to Saturday there are now possible shows and aftershow parties of the designers. Ten designers will kick off on Tuesday. Already on the first day it became clear that there would only be a free minute again at the end of Fashion Week. Our first show this year was “Ivanman” on the “Stage” in the me Collectors Room. Early in the morning, 11 o’clock. Already last season Ivanman made a top start. Oh, this year. Immediately afterwards we went on with “Nobi Talai” in Berlin’s Kronprinzenpalai with our Yulha. Followed by a very floral show by the designer “Lena Hoschek”, perfectly arranged in one line from the place card to the stage. After that jump to the greenshowroom in the Postbahnhof, where our Alex had his first show, parallel Anne and David ran for Odeur at the “Runway” Brandenburger Tor. And the day was only half over – show after show it went on for the next four days.

Fortunately, we were not only allowed to run on the first show, also on Friday two of our models, Helena and Lisa, on the final show of “Ioana Ciolacu”. With creative make-up and strong pictures afterwards.

The big finale: Candy Fashion – KEY LOOKS Show by FashionID

The biggest highlight of the current fashion week took place on Saturday in a “small” circle of people. Top models, stars, agency and media representatives met at the KEY LOOKS Show from “FashionID” by “Peek & Cloppenburg”. The motto was “Candy Fashion”. The entire lobby of Fashion Week at the Brandenburg Gate was transformed into candy and cotton candy land – everything looked like a Katy Perry video. Really great staged by the set designer. Between cotton candy and human-sized lollipops there were cool, refined drinks at various bars, a great DJ and many little surprises and snacks. Almost two hundred people gathered left and right around the catwalk, which in turn was decorated with cotton candy at the entrance up to the ceiling, pink light and lollipops made the picture of “Candy Fashion” perfect.

At the beginning, eight models from a classic cotton candy wagon stood across the catwalk with sweet sugar threads. That put a smile on almost everyone’s face! Shortly thereafter, Showtime, the keylooks of the coming season, was available in all Peek & Cloppenburg stores and online on FashionID. With fashion by Esprit, Marc Cain and Max&Co. Moderated by Annemarie Carpendale (Red and Taff on ProSieben). Each collection got its own music, its own staging for the audience. Our Johanna also attended and showed a total of three looks for the spring/summer season 2016, culminating in creative outsfits for the fashion magazines – each editorial team put together their favourite pieces from the new collections and combined them with accessories and other pieces. Thus, new creations and looks for 2016 were immediately lost.
