Los Angeles is most famous for the Hollywood sign, the walk of fame and of course the countless celebrities walking around. It is definitely a place to be but it does not count to the big 4 fashion capitals worldwide. Even though, you will find all the big designers on the “Pretty Woman” famous “Rodeo Drive”. But Los Angeles has a couple designers you need to know, from crazy Leo prints to classic menswear, Los Angeles got a lot to offer. Check out Los Angeles most important designers.

Rachel Zoe – Inventor of the Boho-Chic

Rachel Zoe was born in Millburn in 1971 and is a designer, editor, author, stylist, TV personality and entrepreneur celebrated for her effortless take on glamour. As a stylist and designer, she works with magazine editors and celebrities such as Brenda Song, Nicole Richie and Keira Knightley. Zoe’s current clients include Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson and many more. Zoe created the “Boho-Chic” with the help of reality TV star Nicole Richie. Since 2008, she appears in her reality TV series The Rachel Zoe Project on the US television station Bravo.

George Esquivel – Customized Shoes and Leather Goods

George is a shoe designer and founder of Esquivel Designs, a southern California design company that makes custom shoes and leather goods. He started making shoes in his garage in the mid-1990s and found his company in 2001. He makes customized and made-to-measure shoes for artists, celebrities, entrepreneurs, and athletes.

Jeremy Scott – Everything from Mermaids to S-and-M Style

Jeremy Scott was born in 1975 and launched his brand 1997 in Paris and since then has, how The Guardian and New York Tims said,  a reputation as  “pop culture’s most irreverent designer” and “fashion’s last rebel”. The Boy from Kansas City, now dresses celebrities like Rihanna, Bjork, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Kanye West or Nicki Minaj. Furthermore, he is the creative director of the international successful brand “Moschino”. Scott has been an L.A. resident since 2001.

James Perse – From the Hockey Rink to the Fashion World

James Perse was born 1972 in Los Angeles between the beach, hockey rink, and his fathers innovative boutique. He was very into sports and that’s how he got into design, he never found a baseball cap that was well designed.In 1991 he a cap for his fathers boutique and shortly after customers became clients, from film directors to music label bosses who ordered caps for the next tour. 1994 he launched his first shirt line and 2003 his first retail store.

Bijan – The Man with the most Expensive Store Worldwide

Bijan was born in 1940 in Tehran, Iran and designed menswear and fragrances. His fashion career began in Iran with his boutique names “Pink Panther Boutique”. He dresses presidents like George Bush, Bill Clinton or Barack Obama and other designers like Tom Ford or Oscar de la Renta. He immigrated to Los Angeles in 1973 and opened his boutique on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills in 1976. It has been called the most expensive store worldwide. He died in 2011, but his soon continues the billion dollar empire.

Monique Lhuillier – The Woman who makes Brides Happy

Monique Lhuillier was born 1971 in Cebu City, Phillippines and is a fashion designer and creative director of her own lifestyle brand. She designs bridal and ready-to-wear clothes for her client’s worldwide. She launched her brand in 1997 and her first retail store in 2001. In 2004 gained a lot of attention for her wedding dresses she designed for Britney Spears. She opened  “flagship” store on Melrose Place in 2007, another store in New York in 2012.

Jennifer Meyer – The Queen of Bling Bling

Jennifer Meyer was born in 1997 and is an American jewelry designer. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and started her jewelry career in 2004 when she did not find the right charm for her necklace. She took several classes and designed her trademark 18-karat gold charm in a leaf shape. Her jewelry made its national debut when a Jennifer Aniston’s stylist picked out one of Meyer’s leaf pendants, to wear it in The Break-Up.
