Top Videos from Burberry – Between Trench Coat and Innovation

Burberry – The name Burberry immediately brings to mind the famous beige trench coat or scarf in the familiar check pattern. This is both the trademark and unique selling point of the British luxury company, making it one of the most recognizable companies in the world. In addition to English elegance, the label repeatedly presents itself with cool and unusual designs and is a source of excitement for celebrities such as Rihanna, Kate Moss and even the British Royals.

Tense story between highs and lows

The success story of the British company began in 1856 when the merchant Thomas Burberry founded his first textile shop, named after his surname, in Basingstoke, England. Burberry first attracted a lot of attention in 1880 when he developed a gabardine fabric that was at once robust, waterproof and breathable. He patented it and produced men’s capes which he sold on a large scale. Thus, in 1891, Thomas added another shop in the London district of Haymarket, which was the former flagship store. The business grew and grew, in 1920 the first stock exchange listing already took place. Four years later, the check pattern, which is still known worldwide today, was created. Initially, it was only used for the lining of jackets or the well-known trench coat and was worn by the British military during World War I. After Thomas Burberry’s death in 1924, his sons took over the business and expanded further into the USA, where they brought the brand to style icons like Audrey Hepburn. The assortment continued to grow, bags, accessories or fragrances were added. Unfortunately, however, after the sons sold the company in 1955, the business started to falter and experienced a small loss of image. From 2001 to 2018, Christopher Bailey took over the design department of Burberry and brought the company out of its trough – he completely turned the company around and made Burberry fashionable again. Especially today with Riccardo Tisco, Burberry is experiencing a real hype again, the Italian made sure that the British house had maximum sales with his street styles and Burberry has again reached the top of the fashion world.

Fashion shows between live music and technology

The fashion shows of the British fashion company Burberry are characterized primarily by technical features or functions, as well as unique live performances by well-known artists and exclusive guests of the fashion world. For example, Burberry was the first company to try out a so-called “See Now, Buy Now” function, offering customers the chance to order products directly in the live stream of the fashion show. Three of the most interesting fashion shows can be seen here.

Unique Rainbow fashion show in London

With his last show for Burberry, former chief designer Christopher Bailey once again demonstrated his enormous talent and at the same time set a huge signal for more tolerance and acceptance. He dedicated the collection and the show to three of the largest organizations fighting for LGBTQ rights worldwide. The venue was a huge hall in London, where the audience sat around the catwalk like at a football match. Everything was dark, just a few lamps swayed across the middle of the catwalk. The collection was characterized by the typical elegance of Burberry, as well as elements of the rainbow flag. At the end of the fashion show, spotlights formed a construct of rainbow colours, through which the models, first and foremost Cara Delevigne in a colourful fur coat, walked to the song “Don’t Leave Me This Way” by The Communards. The show was a great success and the audience was visibly enthusiastic.

“Fashion meets Technology” – Revolutionary Fashion Show

The Burberry Spring/Summer fashion show in London was a very special and revolutionary fashion show. Burberrry gave fashion fans who didn’t have a ticket for the show the exclusive chance to preview the collection on the company’s Snapchat account the day before. The show itself was classically spectacular, typical for Burberry – the British singer Alison Moyet sang live during the show. The performance was simultaneously recorded for Burberry’s own Apple Music Channel – making the British the first to have their own channel on the platform. The audience, cast with Kate Moss, Cara Delevinge, Sienna Miller or Anna Wintour visibly enjoyed the great show.

“Back to the past” – Tisci show from memories of his past

Burberry’s Autumn/Winter 2020 fashion show took place in a gigantic hall in London, supported by a spectacular and beautiful musical performance by musician Arca and pianist duo Katja and Marielle Labèque. With this show, the new chief designer Riccardo Tisci gives an insight into his memories and shows, especially with the collection, which inspirations he took from his past. Important people, important music or moments played a big and decisive role in his life that made him the person he is today. The top-class fashion audience could definitely feel his vibe and the fashion world was thrilled.

Successful and exploitative campaigns of the traditional house

The British fashion brand Burberry is known for its long and special advertising films. Behind all their campaigns there is always a message, or rather the idea to bring a significant story of the company to the viewer. This is how the company manages to inspire millions of viewers. Three of Burberry’s most interesting campaigns include the famous short film “The Tale of Thomas Burberry”, “From London with Love” and the Christmas campaign “What is Love?

A unique short film about Burberry founder Thomas Burberry

The Tale of Thomas Burberry was a Christmas campaign by the British company and was produced to depict and celebrate the extraordinary life of the founder Thomas Burberry. The clip stars the well-known actors Sienna Miller, Lily James, Domhnall Gleeson and Dominic West, whose roles present the life of the pioneer in an exciting way. The drama of his life in the 20th century with its highs and lows and the development of his company is shown. The campaign was primarily produced to draw attention to the spirit Thomas Burberry, who is also still present in the company.

From London with Love – Campaign with Beckham-Shoot Romeo Beckham

The campaign “From London with Love” is one of the most watched and best known commercials of the luxury brand Burberry so far. Inspiration of this video is the so-called golden age of cinematic musicals. The story of this play is the tragic love of a young couple during a theatrical setback in London. In the leading role of the campaign is, among others, Romeo Beckham, the second youngest son of the British mega stars David and Victoria Beckham, who is not here not for the first time in front of the camera for Burberry, but has already decorated several campaigns of the fashion house. This campaign embodies a special spirit of the company and is absolutely worth seeing.

What is Love? – Campaign to celebrate love

This special Christmas campaign from Burberry aims to spread and showcase the love of the holidays. In the video you can see a variety of people of different ages and looks. From very young children to senior citizens, from classically beautiful people to extraordinary looking people. The campaign celebrates the diversity of people and the boundless love that takes place beyond looks etc. Burberry definitely got a great message out with the campaign and certainly reached a lot of people.

Cara Delevinge, Lily James and Gigi Hadid love Burberry

The British luxury label and traditional house Burberry stands for absolute elegance and innovation at the same time. Celebrities like Cara Delevinge, Lily James or Gigi Hadid are big fans on the one hand, but also advertising faces of the labels. In creative campaigns, they present the spirit of the brand in an optimal way and inspire fans worldwide.

Cara Delevinge loves her hometown London

The campaign for Burberry’s new women’s fragrance “Her” features British supermodel Cara Delevigne in the leading role, who, as a born Londoner, embodies like no other the stylish and energetic spirit of the fragrance, which is dedicated to the city of London. In the campaign, the model can be seen in cool Polaroid shots in her hometown London, singing lines like “Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner, That I love London so, Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner, That I think of her wherever I go The campaign really makes you feel the vibe of the city and the scent!

Superstar Lily James as elegant brand ambassador for perfume

Lily James is a well-known British actress (Cinderella, Mama Mia) and is also the advertising face of the current campaign for the iconic women’s fragrance “My Burberry”. The 31-year-old, dressed in Burberry, is shown lying on a couch in various poses against a typical backdrop of houses in the West of London. This is, by the way, the first campaign to take place under the artistic direction of the new chief designer Riccardo Tisci. The elegance and cool chic that the fragrance represents are perfectly staged and presented in this campaign video.

Gigi Hadid for the new interpretation of the Burberry monogram

New Chief Designer Riccardo Tisco is responsible for a whole new interpretation of the Burberry monogram. It includes the two initials T and B, for Thomas Burberry and is already featured on several pieces of the new collections. To present this reinterpretation, Burberry grabbed the famous supermodel Gigi Hadid for her campaign, in which she presents both the women’s and men’s collections in a cool way in different cuts. The collection has many fans, but also opponents who would rather see Burberry’s traditional design. However, the new one is innovative and Tisci brings a new, younger clientele to the company.

Vivienne Westwood or London in LA – cool collaborations

Burberry is a brand that, compared to other high-fashion brands, does not rely so much on collaborations with other brands. Nevertheless, the label presented a very successful brand collaboration last year with the punk legend Vivienne Westwood. On the other hand, Burberry is very innovative and always creative when it comes to presenting its fashion – for example at an event in Los Angeles, where it brought the brand’s London vibe to the USA.

London in Los Angeles, California – James Cordon and the Beckhams are thrilled

This video does not show a typical brand collaboration, but a very special project of the British fashion company Burberry, which presented an exclusive capsule collection in the Californian dream city Los Angeles. Place of the event was the famous Griffith Observatory, high above the hills of LA. Surprise appearances by the famous English soldiers, dressed in red gear and huge black headgear, as well as a runway debut by “The Late Late Show” presenter James Cordon made this event extraordinary. There was also a small English garden in the middle of the Hollywood Hills, where British singers such as Clare Maguire, George Ezra or Tom Odell performed. Also the guests were top-class – many of the British guests like Anna Wintour, Cara Delevinge, Elton John, Rose Byrne or the Beckhams enjoyed this evening very much and could share a little bit of home style in the middle of the Californian metropolis.

Traditional house and punk icon – Unique collection

Two British fashion houses that could not be more different – Burberry, the elegant and luxurious fashion house with a long tradition and Vivienne Westwood, the eccentric fashion designer who is considered the queen of punk. The collection is inspired by Westwood’s iconic designs, with the classic double-breasted coat from the Fall/Winter 1992 collection or the mini kilt from the Anglomania 1993 collection. The aim of the collaboration is to celebrate the British style, with its punk approaches, but also the famous check pattern by Burberry. Riccardo Tisci has always been a big fan of fashion icon Vivienne Westwood and with his start at Burberry he saw the perfect opportunity to connect and work with her.

Christopher Bailey & Riccardo Tisci: Interesting Interviews

The two designers Christopher Bailey and Riccardo Tisci are both revolutionaries at Burberry. Bailey, who brought the company out of a crisis and Tisci, who is currently taking Burberry to a whole new level with his street styles. In two videos the two can be seen in short but exciting interviews.

Design legend Christopher Bailey about the famous trench coat

As iconic as Burberry’s famous trench coat is the designer Christopher Bailey, who brought the brand out of a low in the early 2000s and made it what it is today. For over 15 years he revolutionised the style of the house in his own way and had a huge success in the process. One thing that always remained the same, however, is the legendary trench coat, which has been in the range since the company started in 1856 and probably always will be. With Mr. Porter’s fashion magazine, the Briton spoke about the trench coat and why it is an absolute must-have in every wardrobe.

Elevator interview at Burberry Head Office – Riccardo Tisci and Models

Inspired by the well-known elevator pitch method, Burberry filmed an interview format for its YouTube channel in which all employees who enter the elevator are interviewed about Burberry and the show. Among others, chief designer Riccardo Tisci steps into the elevator and is interviewed about the show. However, he remains mysterious and does not reveal too much. Models of the show are also in the elevator and you might get first ideas how the show could look like. With this format Burberry definitely manages to build up tension before the fashion show and with this unique idea also provides entertainment.

Top Videos from Gucci – Between revolutionary eccentricity and high fashion

Whether in rap songs or celebrities, Gucci is present and everyone knows the name. The typical designs and above all the well-known GG logo quickly come to mind. Whether it’s sneakers, belts, sunglasses or perfume, Gucci has long been mainstream. Under the direction of chief designer Alessandro Michele, Gucci today reaches a whole new and above all young target group and stars such as Harry Styles or Jared Leto are idols on the one hand, but also lovers and advertising face of the brand. In addition, the brand can be seen in influencers on Instagram or Youtube and is now one of the favorite brands of the social media generation.

History and legacy of the fashion group

The Italian Guccio Gucci opened his company in 1921 in Florence, Italy. However, by that time there were already some problems after leather imports failed to materialize during the Second World War. But Gucci made the best of it and created the Bamboo It Bag, which is still successful today. In the 1950s, Gucci’s son Aldo took over the business after Gucci’s death and helped the brand gain international recognition with its first store in the USA and stars like Grace Kelly as a customer. Aldo Gucci brought his illegitimate daughter Patricia, who was a huge scandal in Italian society at the time, into the company’s board of directors at the age of just 20. She was the beautiful companion at her father’s side on business trips and, after modeling in a bathing suit for a company advertising campaign, was named the “Gucci Girl”. Then in the 1980s Aldo Gucci was arrested for tax evasion at the age of 81 – he died at 90 and disinherited all his sons before that. In addition, since the 1980s, the company has been in decline after one of his sons, Maurizio Gucci, gradually sold the company to a US-Arab company. In 1995 his ex-wife had him killed and was sentenced to 26 years in prison.

In 2004, Gucci became a wholly owned subsidiary of the French luxury group Kering, and since then has experienced a real boom and complete transformation with designers such as Tom Ford, Frida Giannini and now Alessandro Michele, so that today the company is considered the strongest in the group and one of the most important fashion companies in the world.

Fascination and uniqueness at the fashion shows

The fashion shows of the Italian luxury brand Gucci are anything but boring – they are elaborate and unique. Especially since the Italian Alessandro Michele became chief designer of the company, Gucci fascinates anew with every fashion show and collection. Whether shocking clinic atmosphere, mysterious outdoor location with fire elements or transparent “carousel”, Michele’s ingenuity and crazy ideas never seem to run out.

“Mental health is not fashion” – controversial fashion show

No fashion show in recent years has been as controversial and attracted as much attention as the Spring Summer 2020 show. Not only the show itself, under the artistic direction of the extroverted designer Alessandro Michele, but especially the eye-catching collection was the talk of the fashion world. At the beginning of the show, the models drive past the audience motionlessly, wearing white clothes from head to toe, reminiscent of forced clothing from mental institutions. One of the models made a silent protest by writing “Mental health is not fashion” on her hands and holding them up on the catwalk – of course this caused quite a stir. Also otherwise the show was a special eye-catcher by very special outfits…

Secret fashion show in a Roman cemetery

The Gucci Cruise Show 2019 delighted with a mystical atmosphere and spooky location, as well as a collection of gothic and disco elements. In the middle of the Roman cemetery of Arles, the fashion house presented its collection – artificial fog, thousands of candles and a choir singing medieval music made this show a real experience. The catwalk was set on fire and the models floated past the audience in their extraordinary creations. The audience was fascinated and enthusiastic and the fashion world also reported in high tones about the Gucci fashion show.

Intimate insight into the backstage of a fashion show

After the fashion house’s particularly eye-catching show for the Spring Summer 2020 collection, the expectations of Alessandro Michele were naturally particularly high for the next show. The guests gathered in a huge location, a transparent carousel stood in the middle and with the beginning of the show the view inside was exposed. You could see choreographers, stylists, dressers and models between bathrobe and finished runway look. The spectators were part of the complete backstage procedure before the fashion show, which is always the most nerve-racking part of the fashion shows for the designer. Michele’s intention was to let the audience participate live, as is usual in times of social media. By the way, the invitations for the show were sent out in a special way – Michele sent them via WhatsApp to the guests, because they are personally part of an otherwise invisible and rather intimate moment.

The best Gucci campaigns – Lana del Rey, Gucci Mane & Jared Leto

If there were an award for the coolest campaigns, Gucci would certainly be way ahead. In collaboration with Christopher Simmonds, the Italian luxury house produces real short films that make you want to watch Gucci. Whether it’s the Gucci Cruise 2020 campaign with Gucci Mane, the Gucci Guilty campaign with Lany Del Rey and Jared Leto, or the Gucci Psychodelic campaign, all of these feel the attitude and the joy of life that the company wants to spread with its fashion.

Excessive house party with celebrities like Sienna Miller or Gucci Mane

This Gucci campaign for the Cruise 2020 collection is truly legendary and will make you want to shop at Gucci. The video features celebrities such as Sienna Miller, Iggy Pop, Benedetta Barzini and Gucci Mane at an uninhibited house party at a Los Angeles mansion. All guests are debauched and eccentric personalities and embody a hedonistic, carefree party life. All the social classes, whether they be the chic, rich businessmen or famous rappers, are dressed in Gucci gear and can be seen banging around every corner of the house. The campaign embodies an infectious joie de vivre that Gucci wants to communicate to its customers.

60s glamour with Lana Del Rey and Jared Leto

In the campaign for the Gucci Guilty fragrance, singer Lana Del Rey and musician Jared Leto are seen as an American “showcase couple” in iconic Hollywood locations. The whole thing is set in a retro perspective, probably inspired by the 60s and the American Dream. Both dressed completely in Gucci give a really beautiful couple and remind the viewer of old Hollywood glamour. In the background there is fitting retro music, which makes this campaign as a whole a really successful and worth watching promotional video.

Shrill and colourful psychedelic campaign at an Italian tradition house

The psychedelic campaign for a capsule collection of the Italian luxury brand takes the viewer into a colourful nightclub of the 70s with a hilarious and trance-like atmosphere. Just as striking as the colorful light reflections and disco balls in the video is, above all, the collection presented, which shows a colorful reinterpretation of the well-known Gucci logo. This campaign also reflects the fashion house’s cool attitude towards life in an exciting way and appeals to a mainly young target group.

Authenticity and glamour through Harry Style and Lana Del Rey

Gucci is a brand whose campaigns and fashions are designed to evoke a sense of life and emotion in people. To get these messages across, the Italian fashion house naturally chooses special people to be part of the campaigns. The label places particular emphasis on authenticity, which they have succeeded in doing especially with prominent examples such as Harry Styles and Lana Del Rey.

Teenie favourite Harry Styles in current campaign

The ex-One Direction star and now successful musician himself is a Gucci lover and can be seen in countless campaigns, as well as in the robes of the luxury house – for example, at the last Met Gala in New York, the Briton fascinated in a very androgynous piece by Gucci. In the following campaign, 26-year-olds are seen as a down-to-earth young man strolling through an English suburb with a chicken in his hand, visiting a fish-and-chips shop. As inconspicuous as this campaign is, with Harry Style as a model, it was a great success and attracted many young fans to Gucci.

Pigs collection with Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson

Last year, Gucci presented a very special collection, with all the clothes, bags and accessories featuring cute piggy emblems. Funnily enough, these are really trendy and are becoming increasingly popular as pets. The collection was a real success and caused a real buying frenzy, especially with the beauty mogul and youtuber Jeffree Star. The multimillionaire bought the entire collection worth 15,000 dollars and surprised his good YouTube friend Shane Dawson, whose trademark is a pig. Unfortunately, Gucci did not produce a campaign film for this collection, but the VLOG by Jeffree Star gives a very interesting and entertaining insight into the pieces in the collection.

Lana Del Rey for 60s campaign for Gucci Guilty

The musician and songwriter Lana Del Rey stands for natural beauty and embodies with her music and her unique look a special and often sentimental retro time. In the campaign for the perfume Guilty, the American actress plays together with singer Jared Leto an American glamour couple in Hollywood in the 1960s. With her unique style and look, the singer is the perfect cast for the role and created a great campaign with Gucci. Gucci gives a small insight “BTS” of the campaign in the following video.

Exceptional, successful collaborations

The ingenuity and creative ideas of chief designer Alessandro Michele are great and so the Italian is known above all for his eccentric designs and unusual collaborations. The success and hype of the collections speaks for itself every time and so the Gucci Ghost, the Yankees, and this year’s Disney collections have been part of the last years.

Disney’s Mickey Mouse on Italian luxury fashion

On the occasion of Chinese New Year and this year’s Year of the Mouse, the luxury company collaborated with none other than Disney and released a limited edition in mouse design. The focus is on the Disney cult figure Mickey Mouse, which can be seen on numerous pieces such as clothes, bags or even bath slippers. To match the collection, the luxury company produced a promotional video at Disneyland, which is specifically aimed at the Chinese New Year. The collection was a great success and sold out in large parts within a short time. In addition to the meaning behind the mouse design, these naturally also aroused a real childhood feeling in many customers.

Ex snowboarder Trevor Andrew is the Gucci Ghost

The collaboration with the famous Gucci Ghost was born in 2016 and caused a huge hype especially on the Instagram platform. Behind the Gucci Ghost design is former pro snowboarder Trevor Andrew, who some years ago, out of desperation over a matching Halloween costume, threw on an old Gucci sheet, cut out the eye area and has since been affectionately known as the Gucci Ghost by his friends. With his new nickname, the American started as a graffiti artist in New York, where he quickly built a large fan base with his artwork on Instagram. Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s chief designer, was also a fan and got to know the “Gucci Ghost” through mutual friends. This led to the joint idea of the special collection, which was launched in 2016. In the following video you can watch the exciting collection in the New York showroom with a special 360 degree function.

Collaboration of baseball caps and Italian luxury fashion

The Major League Baseball (MLB) is the biggest baseball league in the world and the famous Yankee Caps with NY logo are almost the trademark. The caps have always been in fashion and almost everyone has had one. Even the creative mind behind Gucci Alessandro Michele likes to wear his NY cap in combination with Gucci. So he came up with the idea to work with the American Baseball League and design a complete collection in Yankees design. The result is caps, clothing or accessories and shoes, which is a clever and at the same time successful move of the Italian true, because the collection experienced a big hype and an even bigger demand.

Gucci Interviews – Get to know more about the label

If you want to learn more about the luxury label, you can watch one of the interviews.

“Make the crazy beautiful” – motto of the chief designer Alessandro Michele

Alessandro Michele has been Gucci’s chief designer since 2015 and transformed the traditional company with its eccentric designs, attracting a young target group with high purchasing power to the company. That the collections sometimes even shock at first is part of the marketing strategy. As in an interview published by Gucci with the title “Make the strange beautiful”, Michele somehow always makes the clothes look beautiful and wearable. The video is super interesting and gives a great insight into Alessandro Michele’s work.

Alessandro Michele’s attitude to work and vision

Also here is an interview with Gucci’s chief designer Alessandro Michele, who has been working for the house since 2015. This time accompanied by the New York Times, the Italian gives an insight into his private office, tells what he needs to be creative and his vision for Gucci. Many designers, especially big names in luxury homes, are camera-shy or simply don’t want to be shown in such a private setting, but Michele, despite his modesty, likes to let people be part of his work, also to understand it more.

Hip-hop legend Dapper Dan in his Gucci studio

Dapper Dan is a true icon – he is a hip-hop cult designer and is best known for introducing high fashion to the hip-hop world. The 75-year-old is also an avowed Gucci lover. So it was clear to Alessandro Michele that he had to make a collection with the New Yorker. The result is a collection of absolute connoisseur pieces in a New York retro look, which often have a history and are already cult. In the following video, online magazine Hypebeast takes one to Dapper Dean in his luxurious, multi-million-dollar Gucci studio in the New York district of Harlem.

Burberry – timeless & modern trenchcoats & scarves for ladies and gentlemen

Burberry – A brand that is difficult to pass by. Whether you are a fashion fan or not, the brand has been around for over 150 years and is well established. Whether scarf or coat, the classics of the British brand are very popular and that for women and men. A long history has shaped the company and Burberry has been all the more successful in recent years. Its commitment to young artists is also evident, with the Burberry Foundation, which was established in 2008, supporting schools and other creative associations.

The birth of the label – history, founders & beginnings

When the fashion company was founded in 1856, the designer Thomas Burberry exclusively created coats and outdoor clothing for men. Thomas was a so-called gentleman’s outfitter who opened his first shop in London, England. The first shop opened in 1891 and has had a strong influence on the fashion industry ever since. Whether movie stars like Audrey Hepburn in the outstanding movie ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ in the early 60’s, or celebrities like Kim Kardashian West and Victoria Beckham today.

Thomas Burberry & Descendants – style finding of the label

Whether it’s the familiar check pattern or the cream trench coat, Burberry has created many recognizable features over the last 150 years and over many different generations of designers.
With the aim of saving people from British weather, Thomas Burberry created the Burberry label at the age of just 21. He opened his first store. His revolutionary idea of using a rainproof but breathing fabric enabled him to create weatherproof clothing stylishly accessible to everyone. He was one of the first fashion designers to use Garbadine fabric for his jackets and coats. Until then, the fabric was still very uncomfortable and difficult to wear. The first patent was registered in 1888 on Garbadine, which was just 3 years before the shop was founded. In 1912 the time had come and Thomas Burberry patented the Tielock-Coat, which is the predecessor of the famous trench coat and can be closed with a simple lacing belt.

Military clothing in World War I – the trench coat

During the First World War the famous Burberry Trench Coat was invented. Initially it was only used for military purposes, because you could carry smaller bombs or pipes in the big pockets and use the belt as a belt for weapons.
Thomas Burberry left a great legacy during his lifetime, with which he still inspires countless people today. The timeless designs have become true classics and today it is impossible to imagine life without them.

Burberry Foundation – Promotion of young talents

Since 2008, Burberry has been actively promoting young talent and successfully so. Whether singer, actor or painter, Burberry values people’s creativity and wants to support it in the best possible way.

Support for young artists & Talents – Burberry Foundation

Since its inception in 2008, the Burberry Foundation has been committed to supporting young artists. The central focus is actually everything that has to do with dance, film, theatre and art. The company’s motto is very clear: creativity should be fed, and fed as best it can. The foundation also cooperates with selected schools in England to promote the academic and personal development of the students and to ensure that they have a good start in their own lives and in their future career choices. The organisation has already donated over 2.8 million British pounds and there is no end in sight.

LGBTQ Community – Burberry’s contribution

Support for marginalised groups is also encouraged, in the most creative way. With a stunning collection consisting exclusively of rainbow or rainbow-coloured garments. Dedicated to all gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders and all others who are part of the LGBTQ community. The rainbow collection was presented at a gigantic fashion show in a sea of color and will probably be remembered for a long time.

Burberry’s Awards

  • ‘Best Fashion Designer’ for Christopher Bailey, Bambi 2007
  • ‘British Designer of the Year’ for Christopher Bailey, 2005
  • ‘International Award of Council of Fashion Designer of America’ for Christopher Bailey, 2010

Fashion highlights – Cult trench coat & Scarf for ladies & Men

If you think of Burberry, you probably have the image of a cultivated woman in the streets of London, in a trench coat. Or a chic, older lady visiting a cafe with her dog and wearing a scarf with the famous beige-black-red-white check pattern. Everybody can imagine something under the fire and this thanks to the statement clothes that have been established over the years.

Timeless trench coat – from Audrey Hepburn to Kim Kardashian

Although the nude-coloured coat initially only had a practical and less a fashionable aspect, it quickly established itself as a real fashion statement. After the war, men, but also women, took great pleasure in the waterproof coats and began to wear them as a fashion statement. Famous actors liked to wear them on film sets to stay warm and dry between scenes and shoots. Today the coat is loved and honored by the hippest models, fashion bloggers and critics. A campaign with Kate Moss and Cara Delevigne, 2 of the biggest names on the market, made even the last ones realize how much style wearing a trench coat brings.

The coat is worn open or closed. It is usually in a light cream tone, but is also available in many other colour variations and looks beautiful and classic in every tone. It reaches up to the knees and is closed at the waist with a fabric belt and a metal buckle. 8 parallel buttons on the front serve as a fashionable accessory and the inside is decorated in the typical check pattern of the brand Burberry.

Fashionable scarves & scarves for women and men

The breakthrough of the famous Burberry pattern, which is also patented as such, was achieved by the company in 1920 and for the first 40 years it was only sewn into the famous trenchcoats and coats. It was not until 1967 that the classic Burberry scarf was designed, and this by a funny coincidence. The manager of the Parisian Burberry shops held an exhibition in which he presented the coats upside down and showed the check pattern. People wanted more of the pattern and so one thing led to another. The beginning of a new era for the brand had begun and the production of cashmere scarves could begin.

Today the scarf is considered a noble status symbol. Whoever thinks of himself buys a Burberry scarf. The style is recognized every time and that is exactly why it is a real statement piece in the wardrobe.

Runway Highlights – Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid & Irina Shayk

The fashion shows of the brand are anything but outdated. From technical features such as lighting effects, to the entire scenery of the fashion show, to the collection. Who wouldn’t want to be part of it? According to the same motto, the hottest supermodels run for the famous designer and with a lot of pride. A highlight for every fashion week, definitely!

Did you know?

Burberry was the first brand to present its fashion shows on social media as a live stream to the outside world.

The collection includes a wide variety of women’s and men’s clothing, from shoes and trousers to accessories. The Fashion Show – Catwalk & Catwalk Tips for Models

You are not a professional on the catwalk yet? Then take a look at our tips for the catwalk! Of excessive importance is an upright posture. You should be able to balance a book on your head. Pull your shoulders back and push your pelvis a little forward. Make sure you do not lean back too much. When you take the first step on the catwalk, you should always be the first to use your ball of the foot. Almost like you want to sneak. This looks a lot more elegant than when you first appear with the hoes.

Run with momentum and character: Find your balance

The important thing is that you put one foot in front of the other. You really should literally take this to heart. Your gait should form a zigzag. Thus, you also get the necessary momentum, which makes your walk only appear characteristic. Your steps should be great, but you should not do a splits. Also always remember to swing your hip. Always move your arms and hands evenly. It should not look like you have two stiff arms.

Your focus should be on the catwalk to a point in front of you

Your look should adapt to the style of your clothes. Try to smile with your eyes and keep your chin always lifted. Keep your head straight and steady. At the end of the catwalk is usually always the rotation. Put your left foot in front and pause for a few very short beats of the music. You should turn your shoulders and feet sideways while your head is still pointing forward and you are looking over your shoulders. After the break, turn your foot in the opposite direction and start to run with the front right foot. Only at the end do you turn your face away from the spectators.

But the most important thing is that you try to get your character involved in your walk. And you should always find yourself very attractive. Because only when you are convinced of yourself, you can convince the audience of you.

  • If you still can not walk well on high shoes, then you will learn it quickly with a little practice. My ultimate tip to keep you from slipping on the catwalk is to lick the soles of your higheels with some lemonade or coke. Your soles start to stick after a short time and you will surely strut over the catwalk.
  • Watch catwalk videos of really good models or visit the fashion shows yourself.
  • Let your friends film while running and posing. You can then watch the videos, and you’ll see for yourself what else you need to fix on yourself.
  • It does not matter if you stumble but you should get up dignified and keep going. Even in such stressful and embarrassing situations, you should stay professional and self-confident.
Try to smile with your eyes (Smize: Smile with your eyes).

Fashion show definition – What is a fashion show exactly?

fashion show according to Duden – catwalk, runway, fashion show, …

A fashion show is defined in the Duden as “an event at which the latest fashions are presented”. This is very broad. Closer illuminated is a fashion show the presentation of fashion collections in a certain staging. The collections of designers and labels are usually presented seasonally on the catwalk by models. The staging of the fashion show can be determined individually, there is no generally defined procedure. As a rule, a fashion show ends with a repeated, fast appearance of all models of the show and the “bowing” of the designer to the audience. The audience can be either the general public or an exclusive circle of invited guests and/or the press. As a rule, however, every fashion show focuses on a few key points in the organisation of agencies:

  1. Needed List – All details of planning / PR / Show in highlights
  2. Model Casting – The perfect models and measurements for the fashion collection
  3. Choreography – A detailed planning of the individual “pictures” (scenes)
  4. Public Relations – We inspire the right people from the label
  5. Rehearsal – Final dress rehearsal for all models of the fashion show
  6. Fashion show – The big moment for fashion designers
  7. Press work – After the show is before the show!

Haute Couture & Pret-a-Porter – Running styles of a fashion show

In a fashion show on the catwalk, which is also called Catwalk, presented the new collections of a designer of models. A distinction is made between haute couture fashion and pret-a-porter fashion. Haute Couture comes from France and means literally superior cutting art. In fashion jargon extravagant, individual and high-quality fashion creations by a designer haute couture are called. The haute couture fashion pieces of a designer are the gems of a designer, they are not suitable for everyday use, haute couture is true art that models present on the catwalk. Haute Couture serves the very special appearance. The more valuable the materials used, the higher the price. There is no limit. In contrast to haute couture, there are Pret-a-Porter collections. pret-a-Porter Fashion also comes from France and means “ready to wear”, a fashion that can be worn in everyday life. The fashion collections are available in retail outlets, including department store chains. The designers have created the pieces not only as an art object for the catwalk, but the fashion collections should come to the man or the woman. The price is different, it also comes here to price differences, however, the price is in the average range in the middle class and is affordable. Co-founder of this type of fashion line is Pierre Cardin.

What is Pret-a-Porter exactly?

Pret-a-Porter fashion, also known as ready-to-wear fashion, describes the ready-made, ie not tailor-made, fashion collections of designers and labels. Ready-made fashion is one that we find in retail in various, fixed sizes on the shelves. (Example size 38 or M) Earlier, the fashion industry was horrified at the first catwalk presentations by designer Pret-a-Porter collections – not tailor-made = not exclusive! Quite normal in the modern world – at Fashion Weeks all over the world, the designer’s Pret-a-Porter collections are admired and celebrated. For the designers themselves, the Pret-a-Porter collections are extremely important in addition to haute couture, because the ready-to-wear fashion boosts the marketing of designers enormously. In public, the label builds its image and sets trends that can really be worn! Of course, also among the Pret-a-Porter collections are fashion highlights that only very bold fashionistas REALLY wear on the street – here too: The designer wants to attract attention, to keep in conversation and in the memory of fashion specialists.

Where did Pret-a-Porter come from?

Yves-Saint-Laurent caused a stir in the 60’s as one of the first known designers on the catwalk with his Pret-a-Porter collection. But who “invented” Pret-a-Porter? The Italian designer Pierre Cardin developed the fashion art Pret-a-Porter.

Pierre Cardin – His way to the designer of Pret-a-Porter fashion

Pierre Cardin was born in Italy in 1922. In 1945 he moved from Italy to France, Paris. He began his career in the fashion industry as a fashion designer at Paquin. He developed the costumes for the movie “Beauty and the Beast”. In 1947, the talented Italian moved to the designer label “Dior”. Three years later he started his own label and developed Pret-a-Porter Mode. In 1953, his first fashion collection for women appeared in 1957 followed by the men’s collection.

The seasons of Pret-a-Porter fashion worldwide

The designers’ Pret-a-Porter collections are presented on the runway during two fashion seasons, once in spring / summer and once in autumn / winter – the classic fashion seasons. The presentations of the Pret-a-Porter fashion take place at fashion weeks in the fashion capitals of New York, Milan, London and Paris. But also in the adolescent fashion cities of Berlin, Madrid, Amsterdam and other cities, the collection presentations of the designers, both established designers and celebrated New Comer, take place twice a year at the corresponding seasons in the beginning and middle of the year.

Excursus: The interim seasons

Only twice a year, so every six months, fashion on the runways of fashion metropolises? Unthinkable – no one can stand it! I agree. That’s why, in addition to the main seasons, tadaaa, there are various interim seasons.

Resort – Fashion Collections

In February, the new Pret-a-Porter pieces by the designers regularly hang in stores. Already in November, the interim season for resort fashion begins. Since every fashion fan can look forward to the summer and anticipate the new trends.

Cruise – fashion collections

Cruise, as the name suggests, are fashion collections for the travel-mad fashion fans. Cruise is a sub-category of resort-fashion, specializing in jet-set customers who escape the winter and roast in the sun in December. In the past, this was especially typical of the richer society that enjoyed cruising to warmer regions during the winter months. Hence the name “Cruise” in the style of “cruise”. Today, “Cruise” is part of the resort collection, it is hardly differentiated.

Pre-Fall – Fashion Collections

The counterpart to the more summery Pret-a-Porter Resort collection, is the autumn-winter Pret-a-Porter Pre-fall collection. This comes in July in the shops. Customers enjoy new designs for fall and winter, mostly made of lighter fabrics.

Capsule Collection Fashion

Capsule Collection, a collection that can not really be assigned to any season. The “timeless” Pret-a-Porter fashion of the year. These collections are also called Special Editions and appear unexpected and not regular.

Haute couture at the fashion show – what exactly is that?

Haute couture is the “high society” of fashion collections by designers. The term comes from France and refers to the upscale designs of fashion designers from the top tier. Who belongs to the circle of Haute Couture designers, such as Chanel, Dior or Ellie Saab, decides the French fashion association “Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture”. The designers, also known as “couturiers”, must adhere to “strict” rules in order to defend their place in haute couture. The French fashion association sets rules and specifications so that the ranks of Coutuers remains exclusive. Elaborate, extravagant and in reality hardly wearable fashion, especially handcrafted, precious and luxurious dresses are part of haute couture. Another special feature of the impressive robes: Finest handwork! Of course, such a “unique” can hardly be a lesbian, only a very selected, narrow circle of the rich is one of the customer base for haute couture fashion. The price for a haute couture robe is dizzyingly high. One of the few places off the catwalk to marvel at haute couture fashion is the red carpet of very exclusive events, such as the Oscars. In contrast to the pure “art objects” of the haute couture of the past few years, some robes, dresses and now also trousers are quite “bearable” for upmarket events.

Where does haute couture fashion actually come from?

Haute couture comes from France in the mid-19th century. Charles Frederick Worth was the first, and thus the so-called founding father, to offer tailor-made and handcrafted, exclusive fashion according to his own designs. Until then, tailor-made products were manufactured exclusively according to the wishes of the customer. Worth made a turnaround in the fashion industry. Subsequently, the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture Parisienne joined together, a committee which today describes itself as a fashion association and still sets the rules in terms of haute couture. Only if the collection of a designer label is approved by this committee, the Desiger may present his Haute Couture line under this genre, on the couture shows of Fashion Weeks.

Alta Moda – haute couture from Italy

The Italian sister of French haute couture is the so-called “Alta Moda”. Unlike the term “haute couture”, the term “Alta Moda” is not protected and may be used freely among designers. In addition to Milan, there are also Alta Moda shows in Florence or Rome, there is no set schedule or fixed location for these fashion shows. The world-famous luxury designer duo of Dolce & Gabbana will be presenting their Alta Moda collections in Milan. In addition to established designers, New Comer will be presenting their collections to a wide audience in Rome during the Fashion Week.

Fashion Show – Various walk styles for the presentation of fashion

Two important running styles characterize the catwalk at fashion shows. The wording is different and depends on the choreographer. Roughly, the running styles are divided into the following two divisions.

Pret-à-Porter – casual walk for models

The Casual Walk is, in keeping with the collections, looser than the Design Walk. The models are allowed to slightly swing their hips, the upper body and the gaze need not be rigid. There is a friendly, motivating smile on the model’s face. At the end of the catwalk a posing takes place. The models seek eye contact with the audience. A wink, a kiss in the air or a sexy smile are allowed and welcome.

Haute Couture – Fashion / design walk of the upper class

When it comes to the design walk, the models really function as mannequins, that is, it’s all about the outfit. The look of the models is directed straight forward, no expression is distorted, no eye contact takes place. The shoulders are pulled back, the pelvis goes forward. The models try not to move their torso while running. At the end of the catwalk no posing takes place. The model should not distract from the collection of the designer, this is absolutely the focus.

Milan Fashion Week – From crazy Gucci Show to Gigi Hadid with Puppy

The designers of the official new collections, are often not only by art or z.b. Inspire music, but have their own muses. These are nowadays mainly models or stars and starlets. Not only models, but also life styles are a topic in fashion. Designers like Gucci want to use their fashion to express, transform, improve and sometimes highlight their positive sides or critique negative ones.

Every year, designers have to come up with new trends. To attract attention, they try to show the craziest things and most extraordinary shows. To make an impression, or to stay in mind, Creative Director of Gucci has come up with something new this year. Alessandro Michéle and his team showed an extraordinary fashion show in a room reminiscent of a hospital operating room. The Models that presented the collection were made up in various ways. Some of the models got a drawn monobrow and others walked down the catwalk with their own heads under their arms. From Models with horns to little dragons on their arms, Gucci has shown a mix of luxury fashion and a little freak show in his collection. The team tried to make the models look out of this world and somehow like fairytale creatures, but with a precision and a lot of effort to get a look that it looks almost real. Their message to show different and diverse looks, that are somehow freakish, defenitly catched our attention. Check the video from the show yourself.

The Tod’s brand is mostly known for making leather shoes, handbags and other accessories. This year they have shown their new collection at the Milan Fashion Week. The new fashion showed women’s clothing, in great muted and pastel colors such as beige, brown and cream. However, all the attention was on another factor. Gigi Hadid opened the show and like a few other models she was walking with a cute puppy in her arms.

Paris Fall / Winter: Chanel with chic Fashion in the Woods

Karl Lagerfeld is more than just the designer of Chanel. He defined and gave the Fashion the right style as amazing as no one else could have done after Coco Chanel. This Fall / Winter Collection of Chanel, he showed the clothes in a setting that looked like a wood. With leaves everywhere, trees and dark drapes coming from the ceiling, the Models walked down and showed pieces that defined the vision of the designs. Strong women with nice business dresses and beautiful pearls or gemstones on handbags. The Scenography was perfectly fitted to the designs and gave a nice insight look of the chic, classical and sophisticated look that Karl Lagerfeld sees with the brand.

Bottega Veneta Men and Womenswear – Großartige Mäntel und Stoffe

Model Julia Stegner opened the show of the new autumn / winter collection 2018 and 2019 Bottega Veneta. Among model asterisks like Caroline Trentini and Simon Nessman had a small catwalk comeback. The collection had the perfect look to express a great version of subtle luxury. If you look at the clothes, you can see the defined tailoring and good craftsmanship. The collection looks classy and looks expensive, but not with the typical features of the brand looks. These are beautiful dresses that you can wear season after season and look stunning but hidden and not intrusive.

Jeremy Scott or Moschino? Colorful Fashion: Faux Fur and Alien Looks

Moschino and Jeremy Scott. Jeremy Scott and Moschino. For those who do not know the brand and the designer, it is not clear which connection lies between the two. The designer Jeremy Scott with his eponymous brand is also the creative director of the well-known high fahsion brand Moschino. His fashion is known for bright colors and wild combinations. Moschino and Jeremy Scott go well together, the designer has sportswear and streetstyle covered in his own brand, and Moschino includes chic and sleek women’s clothing. The brand Moschino is like Jeremy Scott no gaudy color too bad, with the inspiration in Pop Art and the motto “Fashion has to be fun”, the designer shows the latest autumn / winter fashion. Unknowing viewers may have wondered why the collections are similar or even almost seem somehow identical. However, he showed a more elegant version of clothes in the Moschino catwalk show. The cuts, presentation and idea behind the collections did not look alike except for the colors: bright and expressive pink, blue or neon colors could be seen. Some models on the Moschino catwalk had pink and blue colored skin.Like strange aliens but with the famous “Jacky Kennedy 50ties Look” hairstyles. In the videos you can admire the great clothes and bags and be inspired by the looks that are “out of this world”.

Become a Model: Casting Situation and Agency Imagine – what you need to know!

The procedure of the job interview in a modeling agency varies depending on the agency. From very short to short. For open castings in agencies you might have five minutes. At a single invitation maybe ten minutes. Depending on the level of experience, the entire appointment, including arrival, photos and short introduction video takes twenty minutes. Whichever you have more or less time to convince. Accordingly, you should also prepare for the appointment. Let’s take a closer look at the process.

+ Berlin | CM Gosee Days 11.08. - 14.08.

4 days exclusive appointments: Instead of big Fashion Week Casting, this year with 4 days and single dates at the CM Gosee Days! You know someone who should definitely become a model? You always wanted to go to a model casting, but until now you have not had the time? Now you have 4 full days, from 11.08. to 14.08.2020 in Berlin. You can find all information here:

Procedure of the interview in the modeling agency: The arrival

Punctuality is so important. In the media industry, “on point” applies. If your appointment is at 1pm, you should be there at 1pm. If earlier, then a maximum of two minutes.

Many tend to come earlier, which is not an advantage. Model agents have their daily business, very tight schedules and exact dates. If you are fifteen minutes earlier at the casting, it may interfere with the internal process. Depending on the size of the agency, there may not be any extra receiving power, meaning the bookers are spontaneously torn from their work. Again and again we have the situation in casting the model already thirty, forty minutes before the start ring or come in directly. Depending on the location you often do not have the possibility to close all accesses. For example, in large castings in hotels many guests are on site. So models can always go directly to the casting room. But if the team is still in the middle of the briefing and you already stand in the room as a model and say hello, that will be negative.

What if you are late? Often, models travel widely for agency castings. Munich, Hamburg, you often have to plan a two-day trip. If your train is delayed on such long distances, everyone understands it. Just call the agency and let me know. You will receive just as friendly. If you can not call anyone directly at big auditions, stay calm and do not get hectic. In Paris they say “C’est la vie”, that’s life. Do not lose your smile.

Your first agency visit, castings, showrooms and shootings: be on time

Depending on the route, you should always plan to be there sooner. You can always get some tea nearby and do a little bit for Instagram and Co. Then you are right nearby, you can go on time and you’re on point.

Casting in the Model Agency: The process

Depending on the situation, you will have a conversation with one or two model agents. They are directly at the customer and know exactly what their regular customers are looking for new advertising campaigns. The person will probably also be your contact in the agency, which means you will work together a lot. So try to be honest and natural right away. Basically, you introduce yourself after the welcome, present your experience, your motivation and your benefits. If you already have a model portfolio, the booker looks at your footage and often gives you a direct, if short, feedback. In most cases, the model agent will also ask you to demonstrate your abilities. That means he wants a short catwalk from you, with short posing and looks.

6 steps for a good walk on the catwalk

A tip for your first walk in an agency. Your walk consists of five elements:

  1. Run – As you approach the model agent, you focus one point behind him or her on the wall. There your gaze stays.
  2. Last Meter – In the final steps (depending on the length of the room) your gaze goes to the model agent
  3. Posing – Stop, enjoy the moment! Count 21 …. 22 … 23 … only then do you go back. At a fashion show, this is the highlight for designers and the media. Photographers can do theirs
  4. Photos of the garments – For the photographers to take enough pictures, you have to stop, pose, exchange views. For a little “catch” you can wink or laugh just before the turn.
  5. Turn – First turn your body. Your gaze stays with the booker for a moment. Then you pull your head and look.
  6. Return – You focus again on a point in the room and are just walking towards it. Your gaze will remain at a height of about two meters so that your head and body stay well stretched.

Depending on the booker’s interest in you as a model, your measurements will be measured, short Polaroid images or video presentations made. The introductory video also follows a fairly steady course. You may need to introduce yourself in English briefly so that the booker can see directly if he can suggest you to international clients. In general, the booker is standing in front of you with a small camera or a tablet. The video should capture you as naturally as possible and is done in a recording.

Short introduction video for model agents and customers of you as a model

  1. Introduction – Hi, my name is Elena, I’m 17 years old and I’m 179 cm tall.
  2. Portrait – At Polaroids, a portrait is filmed first, then your hair is taken back in the braid, you turn into the profile (left) and turn in the other direction again (right).
  3. Whole body – Same procedure as in the portrait, only that you also show your back. For each step, first hair, then hold together. In progress: Frontal view, side-to-side rotation, rear view, side-to-side rotation, frontal view
  4. Walk – The booker will go back a bit, then make a short walk. As previously described, only with other conclusion. You do not run back to the camera, instead you post in front of the camera, showing facial expressions and expressions. After about five seconds Posing you say goodbye.

Admission to the modeling agency

The longed-for call and the admission to the Model Agency: Now it’s time to wait! The process is never the same, some models convince the booker so much that they get the option on the model contract directly in the conversation. Other models you would like to discuss before in a team or look at the book again in peace. In any case, recording is very fast if the agency is interested. Mostly you will find out directly if it works or in two or three days. As a rule, the Booker team says goodbye to you with the words “Thank you for your visit. If interested, we will contact you. “And that can sometimes take a while. If you have not received any feedback after two weeks, it will probably not work with the recording. Of course, you can ask questions to make sure for you. After that, you should in no case write more e-mails or make calls, because you do not want to annoy the agency and if there is interest, the agency will contact you.

Fashion shows at Fashion Week – The fashion capitals

Every big city has its own fashion week, in which various larger or smaller designers present their new fashion collections with models in staged shows. The first fashion week took place in New York City in the early 1940s. The former name of Fashion Week was “Press Week”. The audience at the fashion weeks of this world is different and ranges from buyers of big fashion chains to celebrities and fashion enthusiasts. The big fashion weeks take place, with the exception of twice a year. This allows designers to present their spring and summer collections, as well as their autumn and winter collections, to a wide audience and with great media effort. Among the world’s most influential fashion weeks are the so-called “Big Four”: New York, Paris, London and Milan.

Fashion Week – Start and course of fashion week

The fashion shows of well-known designers such as Marc Jacobs or Georgio Armani usually take 15 minutes, there are of course deviations. Every designer realizes his own visions with the fashion show. There is therefore no fixed sequence of the individual fashion shows. Most designers take a basic sequence for orientation. In every fashion show there is an opening model that is very important for the designer. The first impression of his fashion collections on the critical audience must be perfect. The models usually present several outfits and walk twice over the catwalk. There is a graduation model that is also of great importance to the designer. The highlight of the collection is intended to surprise and fascinate the audience at the end of the show. At the end of each fashion show the models run one after the other, together across the catwalk and show the audience their outfit once again.

Fashion Week New York – the “Who’s Who” of the fashion industry

Sitting in the front row of New York Fashion Week: A dream of many young girls! Whoever has made it here is an integral part of the fashion scene and belongs to the inner circle. Fashion Week in New York is one of the most exclusive and successful fashion weeks in the world. With this in mind, Fashion Week in the Big Apple opens Fashion Weeks every season as the first of the fashion capitals. While Bryant Park used to be the venue for the fashion shows, today the Lincoln Center is the fashion hot spot of New York Fashion Weeks. More than 50 main shows by well-known designers such as Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors or Ralph Lauren inspire the audience in the Lincoln Center. In addition to the big fashion shows, there are numerous smaller fashion shows in galleries or other exclusive locations in Manhattan. Models present the new women’s and men’s collections, while painting and female-models walk the catwalk together to some extent. The number of visitors to DES Fashion-Event is in six digits. Fashion editors and fashion bloggers are competing for the coveted spots next to the catwalk.

Fashion-Week Paris – the cream of women’s fashion

In addition to the New York Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week is also of great importance in the fashion scene. The Paris Fashion Week usually takes place last, after the fashion weeks of the other three fashion metropolises. The Fashion Week Paris programme includes more than 90 major fashion shows. Highlights include the fashion shows by Chanel, Dior and Alexander McQueen. The fashion collections of the designers exude a mysterious charm, a flair that makes Paris a very special fashion city. At the Fashion Week Pret-à-porter Fashion is presented for the most part. But even the popular haute couture is not missed out in Paris: at numerous evening events, fashion enthusiasts can watch the haute coutur shows. In Paris, haute couture, an upmarket art of tailoring, was born. Extravagant, high-quality, expensive and not suitable for everyday use. Fashion that is also interpreted as true art for outsiders. The haute couture elements of the fashion collections are the highlights of every designer. The development of haute couture was a triumph of fashion history and still shapes the fashion scene today. The idea for classic fashion shows as we know them today also originated in Paris. After an influential designer of the time, Mr. Charles Frederick Worth, opened several fashion houses in France, he began to have his collections presented by models. His vision: to present fashion in the best possible way. A marketing strategy that took off and became an achievement of the fashion industry.

Agency Model Coaching – personality and appearance for models

Personality. Posing. Catwalk. Sunday morning started our long prepared model coaching in our agency building in Cologne’s Mediapark. Two experienced model coaches, Lutz and Omega, supported our Cocaine Models team with personality coaching and catwalk training for the models. The response was great and our models were highly motivated to improve their skills. Michelle accompanied our models and gives a short insight into the exclusive model coaching.

Well structured model coaching

At half past nine our Cocaine Models team starts with the last preparations for the Model Coaching in the Mediapark in Cologne. Screens are set up, small snacks prepared and the camera equipment checked. The first models arrive on time at half past nine. We are excited and the models are already looking forward to the exclusive model coaching. The day is well structured, starting with personal coaching at Lutz, followed by catwalk training at catwalk expert Omega. Besides, short videos of our models are shot and Polaroid photos are taken.

Training Schedule (Sunday): Catwalk, Posing, Presence

Part 1: Running coaching, catwalk training (Omega)

In Run Coaching, Catwalktraining with men Model Omega we practice different running styles, which help you in the model everyday life, on castings and in your jobs. Omega is known as an international model and catwalk coach. Omega teaches you to master every catwalk professionally and perfectly.

Part 2: Personality and charisma (Lutz)

From Modelcoach Lutz you get to know your own strengths and your individual character. As international models and recognized acting coach, Lutz knows how to sell strength. With personality and charisma your appearance with the customer will be perfect in the future.

Part 3: Posing and shooting training (Oliver)

With free posing you inspire your customers. That’s why in the third part of the workshop you will learn from Oliver Rudolph. Oliver Rudolph is a fashion photographer and professional when it comes to staging in front of the camera. He teaches you how to move in front of the camera and how to present fashion pieces and co. perfectly.

Part 4: Choreography (Marcel)

In the final choreographic training you will learn different routes of the international catwalk. For the finale we will run a complete rehearsal together and of course we will give tips and suggestions for improvement.

Part 5: Polaroid Shooting / Personal Video (internal)

During and after the workshop we ask individual persons to make a short shooting appointment. We give you the perfect background for a professional Polaroid set, with white background, optimal light and top photographer. In the second step we shoot a personal video for your next performance at the customer. That means personality, posing, walking! You introduce yourself, call yourself your agency, show yourself in profile (like Polaroids), post in front of the camera and do a walk.

Personality coaching with modeling professional Lutz

Lutz enters the room, numerous pairs of eyes examine the self-confident personal coach, who also works as an experienced model. His charisma is likeable and engaging, we are convinced: He can give our models a lot in the matter of “appearance” with customers. He talks entertainingly about his experiences in the model industry, emphasizing how important charisma and body language alone are for the first impression. Very important: Our models must understand that their body is the decisive working instrument. A training in advance is very important, everyone must get to know his body exactly. The charisma is not only conveyed by emotions, that is new to many. Body Language: An underestimated means to show character. The models must take up space with their aura and show full presence. Interesting: Customers read the characteristics of potential models based on their posture, without many words is a judgment made, job: Yes or no!

How to convey emotions correctly

How do I look sexy? How do I radiate grief when I’m not sad at all? How can I develop anger at the push of a button? Typical thoughts and problems of a model. Acting talent is a must in the modeling business. Just like an actor, a good model must be able to slip into different roles. While the models learn different posing tricks, our photographer Oli takes Polaroid photos and performance videos with each model in single passes. English language skills are tested: Everyone must introduce themselves briefly in English. Lutz goes through some exercises with the other models and lets them recreate typical situations from everyday model life. Shy models have no chance to hide in the crowd, Lutz proves his skills. After one and a half hours, Lutz is almost unstoppable and our models are thrilled, the personality coaching is coming to an end. In cooperation with Lutz, our photographer Oli carries out a short sample shooting with some of the models in front of the group. The newly learned posing techniques are immediately demonstrated. The coaching has had an effect! Our models skilfully implement the learned posing tricks. At the end of the training Oli gives the models some tips for working with different photographers. Now the whole team deserves a short break. The small snack buffet lures with different delicacies and coffee smell fills the foyer.

Catwalk Coaching with catwalk professional Omega

Catwalk professional Omega is already waiting motivated in the event room. Our models occupy their seats with fresh energy and satisfied faces. Omega starts with a big smile and a short straight-walk. WOW, he knows his stuff. His top catwalk rule: Every catwalk performance is about selling! Pressure and internal tension are good, but there must still be a special serenity. The presentation on the catwalk must be controlled, yet relaxed and natural. Fashion is in the foreground, the models only present the products. You have to play a role not only during photo shoots, but also on the catwalk. Omega introduces different catwalk types and does some exercises with the models. The event room is filled with sales rattling, the models improve their weaknesses under Omega’s instructions. Omega spreads a good mood, the models are motivated and constantly improving. Especially the posing turn turns out to be a small catwalk trap. No problem! The group takes it with humor: Like actors on a film set, our models repeat their walks until Omega gives his “Go”. The final walk ends the instructive and entertaining catwalk training. Let’s hear it for Omega!

After the success comes the relaxation

The last show videos will be available soon. Our whole team gathers and the models demonstrate their new catwalk skills. Satisfactory feedback goes through the round. We are proud of our protégés and grateful for the great work of the coaches. A successful Sunday comes to an end. From 5 pm the models make their way home with many new insights. Our Cocaine Models team takes down the props and sets off for the well-earned weekend.
