Paris Fashion Week FW 2021/2022 – The best shows and designers

Paris Fashion Week – Fashion, Lifestyle and Haute Couture! Paris Fashion Week is back and offers high fashion without end from March 1-10. Designers and fashion houses like Chloé, Vivienne Westwood, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and more present their new collections at the digital fashion week. In the face of the pandemic, fashion labels are getting more creative with their runway and video presentations, which is evident at this Fashion Week. From dystopian scenarios to runways on airplanes, it’s all here. If you want to learn more about the highlights of fashion week, read on here.

Fashion Week highlights and eye-catchers

Paris Fashion Week in March 2021 is the culmination of four major fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and finally Paris. In four consecutive weeks, designers and artists have presented their collections for the womenswear season autumn/winter 2021/2022 – under the shadow of the Corona Pandemic. But that didn’t make the fashion industry flinch at all, at the virtual Fashion Week in Paris the best designers presented their creations: The focus is all on fashion. These are our highlights!

Chloé: Ponchos, Dresses & Bags

The first collection from Chloé’s new creative director, Gabriela Hearst, unveils her first runway for the fashion label exactly one hundred years after Chloé founder Gaby Aghion’s birth. According to Hearst, the autumn-winter 21 collection is informed and inspired by sustainability and a commitment to the greater good. Ponchos made from recycled cashmere, dresses made from superfine wool gauze, the recycled Edith bags or the Sheltersuit.

Acne Studios: Swedish fashion house

The Swedish fashion house presents its next fall/winter collection at Paris Fashion Week. According to Acne Studios, this collection was created in isolation and inspired by what happens when we come back to life and enter the normal world.

Vivienne Westwood: Fashion Designer & Activist

Vivienne Westwood is one of the last independent global fashion companies in the world. Westwood makes fashion about more than just making clothes and accessories, she raises awareness of environmental and human rights issues and is recognised as one of the world’s most influential fashion designers and activists. She presents her new collection in a creative film that is rather less like a normal fashion show with a simple runway walk.

Hermès: Performance Art Video

Hermès has come up with a special presentation of its fashion for Paris Fashion Week. In the video, you can see dancers with enchanting performance art and choreography. Watch the whole live show of Hermès here:

Elie Saab: Feminine & All Black

The Elie Saabs collection is characterized by strong feminine silhouettes and monochrome pieces. In all black, each piece looks elegant, also green, white and light pink tones can be found in the collection. Saab sets accents with silver and gold, as well as shimmering sequins.

Jil Sander: Nostalgia & Elegance

This wonderfully nostalgic film showcases Jil Sander’s new winter/fall collection. Sander’s unconditional commitment to contemporary design combines elegance and purity with innovative materials and exceptional craftsmanship.

Zadig & Voltaire: Love Yourself

The modern luxury brand was founded in 1997 by Thierry Gillier and is under the artistic direction of Cecilia Bönström. At Paris Fashion Week, Zadig & Voltaire’s motto is “Love Yourself”. The collection will be presented in an exciting runway in front of giant screens showing the streets of major cities.

Givenchy: Exclusive women’s fashion

The accompanying video for Paris Fashion Week, in which Givenchy presents its 2021/22 fall/winter collection, is characterized by gloomy and dark elements. The cool and fast show reminds of something dystopian.

Dior: Disturbing Bauty

“Disturbing beauty”: this is the motto of Christian Dior’s new fall/winter collection. The video is reminiscent of a stylish thriller, besides the runway presentation the setting is characterized by a dark atmosphere and dystopian dancers perform a choreography.

Balmain: Runway on the tarmac

A unique and recognizable silhouette, style and attitude, fine craftsmanship, this is Balmain. The truly stunning new Balmains collection is presented at an airport, on the wings of an airplane, on the tarmac and even in outer space! The intergalactic runway with the moon in the background is a real highlight.

  • Here you can find more videos from Balmain.

Chanel: Timeless ready-to-wear fashion

This year’s Chanel collection is classic Chanel: chic, elegant, timeless, a little casual. Check out the new Autumn/Winter 2021/22 womenswear collection here.

Miu Miu: Runway in the mountains

Founded in 1993, Miu Miu is the instinctive counterpart to Prada, an experimental, alternative expression of a unique vision. Miu Miu takes its name from Miuccia Prada herself and draws on the unconventional, complex and impulsive character of the woman behind it. The fashion is presented behind a breathtaking backdrop of snow-white mountains:

Louis Vuitton: Fashion at the Louvre

The crowning finale of the Paris Fashion Week on March 10 is the fashion house Louis Vuitton. To the music of Daft Punk, the models walk in the new designs without an audience in the Louvre in Paris and present fashion that is anything but boring! Watch the video of the new Louis Vuitton collection here.

Become a model in London: your book, casting & jobs

Become a model in London – modeling in a model agency? Among the “mighty 4”, London is considered the fashion capital. No other city is as creative and experimental with fashion as London. Once you have worked in the modeling world in London, you can be sure that Paris and New York will be even easier. Here, it’s a matter of jumping from casting to casting and angling for the best jobs in the world. If you manage to walk at London Fashion Week, you’ve earned yourself a little crown. Read more about models in London here.

Modeling in London: basis and requirements

As London is one of the most sought after cities to work as a model, you need to be well prepared to score with the important brands and brands. It’s important that you have a good portfolio. You want to become a model and you want to do it at Cocaine Models. Here we explain the requirements for models. It is a dream of many young people – photo shoots, Instagram, travel and meet many interesting and at exclusive influencer events colorful people. The truth is, it’s a long road. Our management will give you the best support you can have. But before it gets to the model application, there is a lot to know and learn. The competition for you is fierce, especially between the ages of 15-18. The better prepared you are, the faster you will convince!

3 Ways to Become a Model:

  • Scouting on the street or Instagram
  • Online application with Polaroids
  • Open Model Agency Casting

Living and working in London, Paris & Co.

If you have an agency and your portfolio has been expanded a bit and you have collected good video and image material, your agency will usually approach you to talk about a stay abroad. This opportunity is perfect to get to know the fashion world and to get important jobs through castings. This way you will learn to work independently and with the support of your modeling agency you will be able to enjoy your modeling world carefree. How stays abroad can look like, you can find here:

On Stay – Work abroad for two to three months

The supreme discipline for models: conquer the world! During an On Stay you will travel as a model for sixty to ninety days to a partner agency. Especially in the beginning, you will live in model shared flats and attend countless castings every day. If you decide to take this step, it is clear to you that you want to concentrate fully on life as a model. A stay abroad must be planned in advance. In Germany, most models start after school, before they begin their studies. For models it is the ideal time to travel. You are currently in the stage of “never seen before” and are in the absolute prime of your life. If you take the chance now, you can make it internationally as a model.

  • On Stay is a longer-term stay abroad
  • Models live in model WGs and attend pre-scheduled castings
  • Always in contact with mother – and partner agency

On Stay Expiry – How you live during your stay

First of all, as a model you have to actively decide to try your hand abroad. The active decision is important because you will have to deal with big agencies and clients at a young age. For example, if you say that you would like to go abroad, your agency will invest time in finding a good agency for you. Contracts will be signed and maybe airline tickets already booked. If you break off a few days before, this will not have a positive effect on your career, as trust will be lost. It is also important for you to have thought everything through in advance. You will be in a foreign country and will also be living with strangers for sixty to ninety days. If you are still young, talk to your parents about your plans right at the beginning. They have a lot of life experience and can always give you good advice on your way. Besides, you will always have a contact person in your agency from the beginning.

Many models ask me at the beginning, how does such an “On Stay” work? Will it cost me money? With a good model agency behind you, your stay abroad is just as well planned as a package holiday. Contracts are signed weeks or even months before the start of the trip. So you know very early when you will travel, where you will live, who your local contact person is and much more.

An On Stay never costs you money as a model. Good agencies always work on the principle that you as a model have no investment. The partner agency abroad takes over all your expenses in advance. This includes the flight tickets, the accommodation but also services on site such as gyms, drivers or “pocket money”. In the end, the costs are deducted from your income. If you end up with a negative amount, the agency will cover the costs. This is what we call “minus balance.” In any case, you gain experience, certainly footage and it doesn’t cost you a cent. Good model agencies invest in their models. If you are proposed for an On Stay, the agency believes in you and the success you could have abroad. Also the local partner agency believes in your success, otherwise they would not invest time and money to fly you in for two to three months.

Direct Booking – direct booking of the model for commercials and shootings

Direct bookings are the most pleasant form of cooperation for you as a model. Your mother agency recommends you to their partner agencies or one of the agencies would like to work with you. Through direct bookings model agencies try to fill their portfolio perfectly, so that they have new interesting models for their customers. With high priced jobs it is often no longer relevant where you come from. The travel expenses are taken over Europe-wide or even worldwide. That’s why agencies like to take good models for direct bookings. You are then just like in your mother agency in the model board of one or more agencies. Availability and option requests are then always forwarded directly to your parent agency. This does not change much for you. Also all updates of measurements, pictures and video material will be coordinated by your mother agency. With a little luck you will get your first bookings quickly. Since these are “direct” you won’t have to go on a casting beforehand, you will be booked solid and travel to the production location. But it is much more profitable for you to give directly on location, to “on stay”.

Application, test shooting, casting, jobs: models in London

The classic entry into the modeling career always runs through an application in a modeling agency. Model agencies not only help you get the right jobs and contacts, they also support you in your career and in your path. Most model start with mediated test shootings of their agencies, with renowned photographers. Here you can prove yourself as a model for the first time! It depends on your posing but also on your facial expressions.

You can show how changeable you are and how versatile you can be. But you can also prove that you are motivated and ambitious at the photo shoot set.

What do you need to be aware of as a New Face in London?

For you as a newface in the modeling industry, it is important to adhere to the basic principles of punctuality, loyalty, honesty, reliability and ambition. If you meet these criteria, you can go far as a model and later work internationally as a model in London and other cities. Especially as a new face, i.e. beginner, it is naturally more challenging to gain a foothold in cities like London. The world is full of beautiful and interesting models. So it is even more important to concentrate on the essentials and to do the tasks you get from your model agency properly.

If you want to know more about modeling and career, you will find everything you need to know in our big and detailed model guide.

Springboard to an international career

Once in London, the international competition of the most beautiful models from all six continents reaches a new level. Because each of the models that has made it this far pursues the same goal to run at the big fashion weeks and to present the latest collections of the most famous designers. Of course, only the models who have achieved this goal with the help of a modeling agency, such as Gigi Hadid, become publicly known. The many unknown faces of the modeling industry are quickly forgotten. What makes these lucky few stand out today, besides their jobs, is the promotion of themselves on social media. From Instagram to Facebook, a successful modeling career today involves a lot more initiative than just photo shoots or catwalk appearances. In the end, however, it’s always luck that decides which model people will still remember in 10 or 20 years.

Traveling as a model in London

Besides the work as a model, you should of course also explore the city in which you are. Often you live as a model in a model flat share or know some through castings, with which you can also tour around. London’s streets are full of fashion boutiques, vintage shops and interesting exhibitions. If you’re lucky, twice a year there’s a chance you can pop along to London Fashion Week and maybe even walk in it. We’ve picked out the best locations for you to take some time out and produce the best Instagram photos:

Top Videos of Balmain – Luxurious prêt-à-porter & unique collaborations

Emotional commercials. Good-looking models. Creative storylines. Never a dull moment with Balmain. No wonder that the French fashion label is now an integral part of the international fashion landscape. Check out the brand’s most famous commercials here. You’ll also learn more about the eventful life of Olivier Rousteing at the end.

Balmain revolutionizes thanks to avant-garde fashion

Balmain was founded in 1945 by Pierre Balmain. From the outset, Monsieur Balmain’s boldly feminine and opulent style offered a stunning contrast to the utilitarian looks of the time, creating a distinctive, super-feminine DNA for the house, which relied on richly embroidered fabrics, pinched waists and longer, often fuller skirts – and quickly transformed the Parisian house into a favourite of both the European and Hollywood kings.

Collaborations with Superstar cast

Balmain is diverse. This also applies to their collaborations. Whether haute couture for the small purse, exquisite make-up for the emancipated woman or luxurious sports fashion: there is something for everyone. You can also see the brand’s most famous mannequins here.

Puma x Balmain: Emotional promotional clip with Cara Delevingne

The powerful, boxing-inspired, interactive campaign focuses on real stories of people who are actually fighting the good fights of today: those who courageously stand up for what they believe in and those who defend everyone’s right to be themselves. The video, directed by Philippa Price, as well as the images captured by Brianna Capozzi, show a wonderfully diverse group of people from all parts of the world and from a wide variety of fields – art, sports, music, dance, science and literature – all of whom have an inspiring story to tell.

L’Oréal Paris x Balmain: Colourful lipsticks for the big city woman

On the contrary: the Balmain team knows exactly what kind of mega-collections are ultimately created through collaboration.

Futuristic clothing for festival lovers

Balmain brings the people together. The video begins with these words, symbolizing the core values of the Balmain House. The futuristically minimalist outfits are intended to show the future and make it clear that the goals are for the future.

Expressive image film for the Balmain army of tomorrow

“I was thrilled to learn that Jake and Ludwig shared my fascination with these small but powerful daily beats, and I was thrilled to see them play with the potential of these sounds to create this unique music video for Balmain’s Fall 2018 campaign. Each of them has the passion, audacity, talent and confidence that make them perfect representatives of today’s modern and inclusive Balmain Army,” said Olivier Rousteing. To see how that comes across in the promotional clip, click here.

Robust & trendy at the same time: The Balmain Sneakers

Get ready, the new Balmain Sneakers are coming in stores! The sneaker collection for men and women consists of 3 original models: the “Troop” inspired by the army boot, the full leather sock “Glove” and a silhouette in basketball style “B Ball”. All models are now available exclusively at Selfridges and in the Balmains promotional shop.

Innovative & avant-garde jewellery

Balmain is pleased to announce the rebirth of the accessories collection of the historic Parisian house. When creative director Olivier Rousteing and his team developed the new lines, they drew on three different sources of inspiration: the unique history of the house, the Balmain studio’s continued mastery of traditional couture techniques and the instantly recognisable style that Rousteing has established for the house over the past five years. The result is a coherent, modern offering based on the best materials, craftsmen and design – in short, a genuine Balmain collection.

Want to work behind the scenes at a model agency as a booker or agent? These are our job offers for the career entry:

3 Tips for Business Registration – Become a Model under 18?

You want to become a model and register your own business at the age of 14, 15 or 16? In the big article on the topic of registering a business (small business) for models, we already took a detailed look at the registration and taxation of jobs. Today we’re going to give you a few more tips if you’re still underage yourself! As a model you have to register as a self-employed person because the job is not a regular activity. You are not employed by modeling agencies in the traditional sense and are therefore self-employed. Registering a business is not as easy for teenagers and a bit more complex than for adult models aged 18 or over. We show you the most important steps if you want to earn money as a model in Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Munich or Berlin. You can find more tips here: Become a Model.

Informal letter to the district court with info about the model job

First, you send an informal letter to the district court. Here you describe what you want to do and how many hours per day you will work and how much money you want to earn. In addition, you need the permission of your parents or legal guardians with signature. As a model you will not work every day, especially if you are young and still in school. Therefore, it is better to give a general number of hours per month. If you do two jobs a month, that’s about 12-16 hours. Earnings vary depending on the job. Showrooms pay less, but they are not connected with media. You only present fashion to a small group of customers or buyers. With campaigns, however, you earn a lot of money quickly. That’s why you should read the paragraph about maximum profit at the end, because if you earn too much, your child benefit can be cancelled.

Guardianship court and legal capacity

As a rule, you will receive an answer within one to two weeks and will be referred to the guardianship court, which will then also carry out a review of your full legal capacity. Here it is checked whether you are up to the job and whether you can be granted full legal capacity. Therefore, it is worthwhile to write good grades in school, which shows that you are motivated and perform well. This way you can be expected to do a “demanding” job. You can also ask questions about the trade and registration here at any time.

Business registration for model jobs

With permission from the guardianship court, you can now go to your local office and register your business. A tip: Register here as a small business owner. When you register, take all the important information and papers with you. You can read about how this works here in the Model Blog or in the article Small Business for Models. Next you will get your tax number. This can take a little longer, sometimes up to two months, depending on the capacity of the tax office. At the end, another very important topic for you: child benefit.

Profit, income and child benefit

The figures may differ slightly, depending on the current status of the law. Roughly, however, you can remember that you only have a certain tax-free amount. You should keep to this, because more profit has consequences for you. With something over 7000.00 euros in the year (approx. 7180.00 euros) you ran out your requirement on child benefit. In addition, you would come from about 7400.00 euros a year in the taxation. That means, you have to pay a part of the further, surplus profit as income tax to the state. In addition, you have to insure yourself against illness.

Tip: Take your own measurements

Here you can see all the important points on your body to take your measurements yourself. Make sure that you wear as little clothing as possible when measuring and be honest with yourself when measuring! More information about minimum measurements and proportions for models can be found here:

Too small, too big, too sporty?

For high fashion and haute couture there are clear guidelines for models, especially for new faces. If you deviate from the measurements, you still have many opportunities in the commercial field. Commercial deals with everything that is “promotional”, from online shops to TV and YouTube videos.

When am I a Curvy Model?

Curvy models in women with a clothing size that lies between 42 and 44. The cup size is also much larger and can definitely go up to a G cup. Curvy models are very popular, just like plus size models, as they are most appealing to the measurements of an average woman. The average woman in Europe has a clothing size of 44, which means that even Curvy Models are only in the general average with an average clothing size of 42 to 44. Also as a Curvy Model we are very happy about your application in our model agency.

Tip: Take your own photos (Polaroids)

Poses and outfits, do you need that? No! We want to see you 100% natural! This is how you make your perfect model polaroids yourself. The agency needs the following pictures of you:

  • A full body picture from the front (photographed frontally)
  • A full body picture from the side
  • A full body picture from behind (because of the hair length)
  • A photo of your face (frontal)
  • A photo of your profile
